Surely this game against the dishlickers presents a great opportunity for the club to play him in the midfield.

I think Duffield will be playing this week, we are forced to blood more youngsters in the middle due to the injuries and suspensions anyhow.
Lets just hope people don't just jump on to shit on them if they don't have a Palmer type game, sometimes requires a few games to get into the rhythm of the team especially when you rarely play in it and mostly play in the WAFL.

How many more chances would you like him to get Memories? He's been around for years and never cemented a spot, simply because he's not good enough.
His history would show that it won't be how he goes against the Bulldogs that will matter, but whether he can back it up with a good performance in the next couple of weeks.
When is his contract up? At some point this year we are going to realize (here on this forum I mean) that we are out of finals contention. I've realized it now and most of you will realize it over the coming weeks.
Whenever most people here can agree on this point maybe start playing him even if he plays bad and just see if he can step up. Better to see if Duff can play midfield for us in 2009 than see if Macca/Johnson/MCarr can get 4 kicks a game in 2008 and then retire. Just.. in my opinion.
Obviously I'd prefer to see Duffman in the middle over Matt Carr and Macca. But does he play predominantly in the middle for the bulldogs? I thought he played a similar role to Gilmore at WAFL level, which is predominantly on the HBF with stints in the middle and on the wing. If these guys aren't in their WAFL sides best couple of midfielders how can we expect them to be AFL calibre mids?

Well what is the difference exactly? The ability to extract the ball from a pack? Athleticism? Quick hands? These are all things you can learn to be better at in my opinion. What better way to learn than by being thrown to the wolves and watching Palmer and the leagues best mids do it?
We need to determine who really wants to play AFL in our club because we have SO many players who just never seem to step up yet play fairly decent in the WAFL. Murphy, Campbell, Duff have all been around for a few years and are on their last chances really.

Good WAFL player in the guts, gets stuck in stupid positions in the AFL because gimps like Mcmanus must be sleeping with the coaching staff
Something has long confused me with this club
Ibbotson (plays through the middle for east fremantle) - Hawthorn game he plays in back pocket and gets smashed. Finally someone with a brain gives him a run in the middle in the last half of the adelaide game and bingo away he goes and hasnt looked back
O'Brien (plays through the middle for peel) - First game against Port he guts a run through the middle and actually looks the goods so we spend all summer pumped up about what he will do. First game this year? our knob coaching staff play him in a back pocket and leave him there all day on a guy who had been carving up for a few weeks there...
Duffield (who plays through the middle normally for souths) - Whenever he plays in our team he guts stuck in the back pockets or out on a half forward flank where our players never look for him anyway. When the ball does come to him its normally a desperate situation or a hospital handpass so he has no chance to do anything with it...
Those three are the first examples i can think of.. just completely puzzles me how schammer and mcmanus remain in the middle on a day like today whilst guys like duff will probably cop the blame as usual

Another guy who can't keep his feet, can't take the ball with one grab, makes dumb decisions, has average to poor disposal, can't make a tackle stick and is just not up to AFL standard.![]()
Was he injured today or did Harvey just realise he's no good? Seemed to spend a lot of time off the ground. What time he was on the ground, he was at his worst. Luckily he's one of the 'Freo stars' looking to walk out - hopefully he doesn't wait for the end of the season.
Did you also notice how much time Drum spent on the bench in the 2nd half? Must have spent 70% of the half on the bike.
