Hello fellow Bomber supporters,

First post so here goes.

What's the verdict on Dyson? Good skills with foot but doesn't get the ball enough and doesn't do enough. Has been in the system for a fair few years and it's just frustrating to see no imporvement whatsoever.

Winderlich is in a similar boat but has show a fair bit of improvement this year and with his body maturing i can see a future for him.

I think we can only afford one of these players on our list.

What do you think?

Developing, quickish, talented midfielders.

At worst we can still afford both these players on our list.

In the scheme of things, there are several players that should go before them.

Both will be on our list and both will play 150+ games for the club...Have some patience as physically they are still developing.

Sheeds needs to give these boys some consistency.
Obviously Winderlich's injury was not timely, but i think Dyson + Joel Reynolds need to play the remainding games this season.
It would be horrible playing one week for the Dons and the next for Bendigo.

I'm surprised Dyson's future is being considered at all?

In only his 3rd year, hasn't been getting much or a run at all this year, but last year in the 5 or 6 games he was showing signs of being a potential star, was getting plenty of footy and one of the best finishers going around already.
I'm not sure why he's not getting much of a run at the moment, maybe form isn't warranting, but considering the position we;re in, I think he should be getting fuller games in the middle or even on the ground in the place of players like Peverill.

both great players, i think only one of them will be around the club next year, i see dyson getting traded or de-listed.

winderlich had his breakthrough games before the leg injury- future for him

Both potentially good players. Dyson showed talent last season, but hasn't shown as much this season - there is talk of OP....

Winders has really come on this season. I heard Sheedy say that Winders would be a 100 game player for Essendon, so I guess he is set to stay.

I'd also be very surprised if Dyson was to go. He has shown enough to warrant another year... His skills are sublime, just needs to get a bit more consistency into his game. Hopefully he will go well at Bendigo and be back in the side over the next couple of weeks.

I don't think Dyson will make it, but I'd give him another year to make the assessment. Not sure how much the pre-season incident impacted his season to date.

Licha is coming along well, his injury came at a horrible time as he was just starting to play some good footy. Ironically, it was Winderlich that fell across Will Minson's leg.

Its funny because this time last year their respective situations were just the opposite of what they are now. Everyone had serious doubts about Winder's future as an AFL footballer and Dyson was playing his breakthrough games. From Ricky's POV, hes chosen the wrong year to go off the boil. Hopefully he gets a few more chances to prove himself.

I agree with Longy, and like him, I wouldn't be rushing to give Ricky the push at the end of the year. He's only small in build and will take longer to develope. Many players don't start coming good until their third or fourth seasons, look at Jobe, NLM, Hille etc.
As for Winderlich, he started playing much better this year, and will be a valuable contributor in 2007 and beyond. He's another player who had the skinny body when he arrived at Windy Hill, just like Dyson.
Like I said it takes TIME, and Ricky deserves at least another 12 months to prove himself, before the axe falleth.
PS That Merv Neagle type left foot passing is not something I want to see running around in opposition colours.

#44 in the 2003 draft dyson has shown a bit, lee was drafted ahead of him and based purely on afl game time.. he is doing better then... to start culling players like that is just silly.. will be around next year.. hope he shows his worth.. on another note.. i would like monfries played forward pocket off the bench and lovett more center free running game.. it cant be bad to continue developing monfries as a forward.. i think thats his possy.. and let lovett use that pace that we came to love in 05.. where has it gone!

Lee was drafted in 2004.

Bradley (6), Stanton (13) and Nash (28) were our picks before Dyson.

Dyson's not going anywhere soon. He's shown glimpses this year, and is one of the few players who's willing to back himself up forward, and consequently has quicked some very nice goals on the run inside 50.

I would keep both on the list for next year.

I thought Licha was finally showing some promise this year before he broke his leg.

Dyson has got a good attcking game, its mainly his defensive side is letting him down IMO. Give him at least one more year to work on it.

I'd like to see Dyson get more game time against Melbourne because he will be a superstar. I would like Winderlich be given a run with role.

Will be hard considering he isnt playing tomorrow

Also it will be hard for Winda to have a run with role considering he fractured his fibula and is currently using crutches:eek:
(I won't qute the other person's comments since she/he doesn't like being quoted...)

Dyson - Almost no better foot skills in the Essendon team going to be a 200 game winger

Winderlich - Finally producing the goods that has been promised. Very bad luck in breaking his leg
