Port's best game of the season delivered our second win. Is this a turning point?

"We have the Power to win, the Power to rule!"

PORT ADELAIDE - After three consecutive wins, the red-hot Swans couldn't sustain momentum against Port in a wet deafening Adelaide Oval. The Power, despite having no bench for a good part of the game, managed to play its best football of the year. The performance reflected the support from its fans, who filled up the stadium despite the bad start of the season.

As usual, it was raining in a Port's home game. Unusually, though, Port kicked straight, dominated all four quarters, and scored more than 100 points. Coach Cadaver's message seemed to have been well understood. Nobody wanted to give him reasons to be dropped after the four changes made from the loss against Geelong.

The defense, once again, was the weakest link. Houston was pulled back, and, although he was out injured early in Q2, he wasn't delivering the difference the coaches expected he could have brought up to that point. Ultimately, it was Watts who led the line with 14 disposals, playing like a legitimate quarterback. He was followed by Bonner with 9 disposal of his own. Westhoff was his usually self, moving a lot, but struggled to impact the game. Completing the Back-6, Clurey and DBJ continued to play below their regular level.

Throughout the match, substitutions kept being made trying to contain Sydney's strong offense. Still, the Swans scored 13 goals and threatened a comeback during Q3. The shorter bench, with only two players, meant that both Ladhams and Farrell were called to play up back. While the ruckman managed to hold his own, Farrell couldn't do much with his limited time due an injury in the third term.

In the middle, Bergman played like a star veteran, instead of a debuting youngster like he was. He is a strong nominee for BoG along Boak, Duursma, and Dixon. Amon and Wines weren't flashy, but didn't play bad games either. Lycett may have lost the hit-out count, but more than compensated for that with 17 disposals, 3 tackles, and scoring an incredible goal.

Down forward, it was Dixon's night. He kicked a bag, and missed the seventh major for inches, after humiliating Rampe with a mix of strength, skill, and footy smarts. Although obfuscated by his fellow target, Georgiades returned with a bang. Those complained he should never have been dropped were vindicated. He finished with 4 goals, 7 scores, 2 tackles.

SPP seemed to be everywhere, always involved in every play. He ended up being rewarded with two goals. Rozee and Motlop tried hard, but couldn't do much tonight. The disappointing player in Port's attacking unit was Robbie. Despite scoring twice (1 goal), he wasn't seen much. Lloyd and Rowbottom shared duties in stopping Port's main weapon and succeeded - if letting Dixon and Mitch scoring 10 goals combined may be called a success, that is.

Port (12th) now has a week to prepare for the match against the Demons (13th, smashed by the Crows yesterday) at the MCG.

What the coaches should do?

Changes v. Demons

Should Robbie be dropped after a bad game? After all, he kicked a bag in Round 5...

Who can come in, if Houston and Farrell don't recover?

How can we fix the @$#*& defense?

Ant Bear, philreich - Who else does play Qooty?
