I don't know if it's just channel 7 guessing but they mentioned Farmer could make an early return from his suspension. Is there a rumour along these lines? I would guess the club wouldn't change their mind on something like that, but the footage I saw on the news sure reminded me what we've been missing this year. 20 odd possessions, 3 goals and 5 assists. Pure creative class in the forward line, we need it, he's got it. Not to mention the defensive pressure he brings. We'd be 4 and 2 had Jeff played 6 games I reckon.

They should have probably made it 4 weeks then said that Jeff would have to convince the board that he's ready, but what's done is done and I'll be extremely surprised and somewhat disappointed if we see him prior to round 13.

It's a funny world we live in.
If Fremantle was to use our justice system as an example of remission with good behaviour then then Jeff could be back sooner than later.
There would be all kinds of precedence that could be used to get him back early. With endevour and commitment both the Club and Jeff you would think something suitable could be arranged.

I joined bigfooty 10 months before you champ, but yes i am still called a newbie. What is your point? Do you disagree with something I said? I was just wondering if there was any basis to their comment he may return earlier?

You add nothing to society, yet alone BF, yet alone the Fremantle Board and you think you have the need to constantly post on our board? Get stuffed!

They have already had Jeff back "sooner than later". They have let him off the hook. Given him leeway. They have honoured him, and they have given him leadership roles. On this occassion they are punishing him, instead of simply sacking him. Giving him another opportunity even though it hurts the club. Something suitable is arranged, and if Farmer can demonstrate that he can handle it, then he can have his career back.

Hopefully his behaviour has not damaged some of the young indigenous players on our list who undoubtably look up to him.

All types of kids look up to him, in fact my kids absolutely worship him! Actually I'm a big kid and I worship the guy! I still think he's a great role model! And he will prove this by taking his punishment on the chin and doing absolutely everything that is asked of him and add a little magic just to polish it off!

Can you imagine the uproar if they went back on their decision???

Won't happen.

It wont happen.
Fremantle FC acted so swiftly to deal with this issue that a majority of people myself included heard of the punishment as the story of the crime filtered out. For Freo to go against their stance would give them as much credability as that dude on page 5 in the Sunday Times today

Didnt sound like he had a great game on Friday. Considering how easily South Fremantle won youd expect a player of his quality to rip it up but he only ended with 3 goals and wasnt able to provide too much around the ground. Id go with Collard. Seen him a few times this season and hes gonna be a gun. Give him a go.

Once again making a brilliant comment

Wouldn't it be better to comment on the game if you actually watched it??

Let's see Embers, how would you rate Farmer's game against say... Sampi's? Not really a fair comparison considering Sampi is touted as being on the verge of a recall, whereas Farmer is playing his first game back. But somehow Farmers' 3 goals and numerous goal assists may give him the edge.

Had a better game then Sampi. You don't see us making threads on the mainboard saying he is ready to come back ;)

Not really. Both about the same. Neither are gonna be lining up for there respective teams anytime soon. 19 possessions 3 goals is a great game. When your team kicks 28 goals and blows the other of the park its not so much. Lets see how he goes next week.

Id take Collards consistency anyday of the week. Seen him play about 3 times this season and he was great. I still dont get why he wouldnt be playing today. Some say he is too unfit but im sure hes ready for 60-70 mins of hard AFL footy by now

An interesting thought occurred to me last night. The board suspended Jeff without consultation with the coaching staff right? If one was so inclined one could hypothesise that the board have decided they don't want to renew CC's contract at the end of the year and so have decided to hamstring his efforts to win games this year to provide them with an excuse. A dastardly scheme and I'm surprised no eagles trolls have thought of it yet.

Of course I don't actually believe this but I do enjoy a good conspiracy theory. Have I mentioned that Elvis wired the twin towers to explode on behalf of the US govt because JFK is still in the witness protection program so he won't reveal that the moon landing was fake? Don't tell anybody though.

It is truly amazing , they obviously havn't realised that they are doing this while Swabbie is out of the country. ;)

Expect a thread soon on this. ;)

Back on topic though , I can't see Him being back early.

Sometimes a line in the sand (however much pain it causes short term ) has got to be drawn for the greater good going forward.

When your team kicks 28 goals and blows the other of the park its not so much. Lets see how he goes next week.

One of the key reasons they blew the others away was because of Farmer from all reports. Regardless, i don't expect farmer to star next week. Nor the following. I'll even go so far as to say he won't get a kick. But I'm confident of him bouncing back in three weeks time.

Mind you even some half decent players, such as Kerr can go through a half without getting a kick; does Kerr need a little pick-me-up? Nah, surely not. Couldn't be related could it? Mind you, if the Eagles Board had an ounce of courage Kerr would have been playing for East Freo for quite a few weeks.

I watched the game at Freo on Friday night, it was the efforts of Collard, not Farmer that were the standout. Although exciting in patches, Farmer isnt quite in the same form as Collard.

One peice of play which stood out from Collard, and there were many more, was a collect on the fifty metre arc in the pocket, He turn goalward, before his stepped had landed he was turning back onto his left and then the delivery to Murphy with the left was breathtaking.

Two of Farmers goals were a direct result of Collard's brilliance.

He is a long way ahead of Farmer IMO.

On the Topic of small fowards. Sampi is still not fit. Plays well for a quarter at a time.

But back to Collard, some of his evasion skills were, dare I say it, Judd-like.

Why is he overseas? No ex coaches living o/s is there? lol

You really should never make a comment about a game you did not see.

Sampi was very good, played alot in the middle.

No he didnt, about the same. Sampi was good in and under and had a hand in three goals in the 1st quarter.

Not really. Both about the same.

Again, how can you make comments like that when you didnt watch the game. but you are right.

Sampi is fit enough to play small forward. Starts every week on the Ball for South and is still there running at the end of the game.

With Collard, i agree to a certain extent. But he did go missing in the second half and the Wiz was always in the mix. But Collards 1st half was outstanding and his tackling is top shelf.

and talking Brilliance, what about the wizards goal in the second quarter.

Joker, would love to know a bit more about Collard. How far off fitness wise is he to get a game at AFL? Regarding his form, do you think he would handle the additional pace of AFL? How would his body stand up to AFL (esp with your comments about his tackling ability-would he hold them at AFL level)?
