His first half was good. Disappeared a bit in the second half. Better than some colleagues, stays in I reckon

Pretty hard when Grundy is doing whatever he wants in the ruck.
Allan had the 2nd most clearances amongst all our mids with 5. Only 1 less than De Goey.
I think we just have too many similar mids rotating through and I personally think Long should make way for Allan. That's fair. Maybe it's the Long effect where I see him get less then 20 disposals every game as a full time mid.

There is one bit of play in the 3rd quarter when he was sort of competing (next to Heeney) for the ball in the Sydney forward area on the right side of the goal - between their half-forward flank & forward pocket to be more precise - when he allowed the ball to easily go between his legs to Papley. In turn, Papley picks up the ball & kicks a pretty good goal. I think that convinced me that he is never going to make it in the AFL. There was just no sense of urgency in his attempt. I hope that I am wrong but I doubt it. Enough said.He is a Liability at AFL Level
Not even close to good enough
Allan, 1 of the best with contested possies and he does not get a load of minutes compared with some.
Stoic!Wouldve had a decent game if he didnt fumble 80% of the time the ball goes to him
Can Long play a defensive forward role on players like Andrews, Barrass/Battle, Stewart type players with the odd big bodies rotation in the middle?he was ok I thought, got in the right spots plenty of times but as usual a bit too much fumbling and panicking. He’s clearly a mid and not a winger but the problem is you can’t play Allan, long and Anderson in the same team when pendles comes back. If pendles can somehow inject some of his composure into Allan then we have a player.

10 CBA’s for 3 Clearances- 30% strike rate is excellentJust played him… and mostly mid too
17 touches , 6 clearances, 5 tackles, 4 inside 50s… an improvement
But a bit like ned long… you get the good with the bad![]()
Do you know how absurd writing off a kid based on singe mistake, sounds? There is one bit of play in the 3rd quarter when he was sort of competing (next to Heeney) for the ball in the Sydney forward area on the right side of the goal - between their half-forward flank & forward pocket to be more precise - when he allowed the ball to easily go between his legs to Papley. LOL - players of both Clubs fumbled a lot under the conditions.Wouldve had a decent game if he didnt fumble 80% of the time the ball goes to him
I think that’s the plan - Howe praised Long’s versatility in the Swoopluke video. Can Long play a defensive forward role on players like Andrews, Barrass/Battle, Stewart type players with the odd big bodies rotation in the middle?

How did it hurt us playing them all last night?Think he’d struggle on someone like Andrews and he’d offer next to no threat as a forward. Big bodied defensive mid is his most likely position imo. Still don’t think you can play long, Anderson and Allan together though. They all seem to have the same limiting factors like poor disposal and low possession count. If one of them goes on to be a 150 game player I’ll take it
