Most of us are expecting one of the big three to retire this year (or 2 next year) and although I think TEddy has had a reasonable year, that started poorly before he excelled in some of the later games, I partially blame him for our loss to the Pies.

We worked our way back to 7 points down in the last quarter and were full of confidence until poor disposal and poor decision making let us down. With Collingwood flooding our back line and frustrating us with their tactics we turned to an older head to steady the ship and guide us home. So when Edwards gets the ball what does he do? Bomb it long into a crowded forward line.

I know it worked in the 2nd term when the ball fell to Stevens for a few lucky goals, but at that stage of the game we needed to take a bit more time, weigh up our options and hit a free target.

It frustrated the crap out of me! Maybe it's time to go... TEddy.

Edwards has been the most consistent of the 3.
Yep :thumbsu:

And had the least injury trouble of the 3. Can play both as a small forward and (turning the clock back) a small defender too.

Any one who wants Edwards to go seriously has no ****ing idea and doesnt deserves to support the afc:thumbsd:

Sorry but **** it pisses me off

A couple of other SENIOR players had costly turnovers yesterday

Edwards and Goodwin will need to be forwards next year and could be the marking, tackling pressure forwards we need. We require a midfield and half back line to stand up on its own, we Danger, Otten added to the mix next year and possibly Petrenko or a Kite we have a half decent mix

IMO

Goody, Zoomer and Macca will all be retained

however, I do believe Goody should hand over the Captain duties, most importantly, form will need to dictate their future selections not just reputation

From a list management point of view it would be good for the club if one of them did go this year, especially since we'll be carrying Burton. One of Edwards, McLeod or Goodwin should retire, but ****ed if I know which one.

TBH, after his second half of the year I most want Edwards to stay of those three though. That leaves Macca and Goody. I don't want either of them to go...

Edwards hasn't missed a game all year and won the Advertiser's Merv Agars medal for the best Crows or Port player for the year.

He's got another year in him and IMO he'll definitely get it.

Edwards to stay.

Didn't McLeod sign another 1 year deal? Hope he comes back mentally refreshed after a break.

Goodwin...50/50...sounds harsh but personally I wouldn't be surprised or upset to see his magnificent career voluntarily ended this year with the dignity that he deserves.

See, now THAT I didn't know living over here in WA. I know he's been fairly consistent for us, but I do think there's been better players across the year.

This is more where I was coming from when I started the thread, although I understand why people would think otherwise. A lot of what I said was based on yesterday's game, where Goody was also underperforming, and my frustration at costly turnovers at important times - I know Edwards wasn't the only one, but he is one of our most experienced players.

The call to play Goody and/or Edwards as permanent forwards is a little bizzare though. We need to develop our forward line, not shore it up with players who won't be there when we are next likely to be a Premiership threat. Craigy made some tough decisions last year and needs to do the same again.

Goody stays because he is (undeserved) captain.
Macca stays because he is generally the best disposer of the ball in our squad and still draws an opposition tag.
Edwards is expendable... Sorry!
