Final 29 coming it at 10 million exactly

I'm a little baffled at the free agency selections - guys like Crowley, Dahlhaus, Sam Reid, Brad Sewell whilst the following were overlooked:

Ben McEvoy, Jed adcock, Naitanui, Mitchell, Sylvia, Westhoff, M. Murphy, Leuenberger, D.Swan, Scully, M.Johnson, Cornes, J Redden, Rockliff, Stanton, Enright, Mackie, S Thompson (ade), S Thompson (NM), Wells, Brad Ebert, Rance, K Jack, Gaff, S Selwood, Zaharakis, J Gibson, Lake, Cox, Le Cras, S.Grigg

FA best side:

B: Mackie, S Thompson (NM), J Gibson
HB: Enright, Lake, Adcock
C: Stanton, Swan, S.Thompson (ade)
HF: Rockliff, Westhoff, Brad Ebert
F: Le Cras, Cox, Zaharakis
Foll: Naitanui, M.Murphy, K Jack
Int from: McEvoy, T.Mitchell, Sylvia, Leuenberger, Scully, M.Johnson, Cornes, J Redden, Wells, Rance, Gaff, S Selwood, S Grigg

I'd declare the remaining FAs the winner (and my team 2nd!)

And total cost for 30 players 1.5 million!

I don't think it's super surprising with only 10 teams and so many players in the AFL database - lots of people (including myself) got excited early and went with names that seemed decent as the lists progressed without really properly planning for later on.

Behold the Mightily Mediocre FC

B Suban Rivers A. Johnson

HB Pittard B. Reid Yarran

C Rohan Goddard Sidebottom

HF Menzel Waite White

F Walters Carlisle Crameri

Foll Minson Kennedy C.Beams

INT Paine Murdoch J. Thomas Colquhoun

DEPTH:
Lycett
Dawes
T. Lynch (GC)
C Morton
Pedersen
Ashby
Sexton
Didak

Not amazing I don't think but anyway.
Backs: Might be a weak spot, but Reid is an excellent key defender and Rivers is certainly more than capable. Alex Johnson has a lot of upside and versatility. Pittard and Yarran rebounding off the half back flanks. Can bring in any of Carlisle, Lynch, Pedersen to play key roles.

Midfield: Decent players. Kennedy and Goddard the real superstars along with Minson. Sidebottom and Rohan are both excellent players as well and some depth on the bench in Thomas and Murdoch, and Menzel and White may do some rotations. Reserve ruck is Paine with an up and comer in Lycett as a third option.

Forwards: Good key options in Waite/Carlisle, Crameri who can play either medium or tall. Walters as one of the best small forwards in the comp as well to complement them. Menzel before injuries was lighting the comp on fire and if he's able to stay fit can continue to do so. White as a speedy option on the flank with occasional midfield runs. Have depth in Dawes, Didak, Lynch.

Gentlemen, behold the Hibberdton Clams:

B: Williams McDonald Hansen
HB: Ibbotson Trengove Duffield
M: Boak Pendlebury Cotchin
HF: Bennell Kennedy Dangerfield
F: Darling Dixon Wright
Foll: Ryder Beams Crowley
Int: Wines Petterd Stanley (Howlett)
Emg: Redden Bell Macrae
Depth: Hudson Watson Curren Langford

Why vote for me? Well, for starters, that midfield:

In Pendlebury, Dangerfield and Cotchin you have three of the very best midfielders in the game. Add Ryder in the ruck, and you all know what he can do. The second string adds plenty more:

a4dSq.jpg

Crowley, the best tagger in the game. An inside-midfield beast in Beams, pace to burn in Bennell, and as solid an all-rounder as you'll find in Boak.

But it's not just about the midfield. We're building a team here, and I offer you team structure, and a squad in their prime. No overdose of talls, all team roles filled, and not a single creaking veteran to be seen.

First, the forwards. Twinkle-Toes Kennedy, one of the premier true CHFs in the competition. Charlie Dixon, blossomed this year and equally comfortable as a deep full forward or in the ruck. As third tall, Jack Darling brings both goals and top-notch defensive pressure. And, an unsung hero, Matt Wright, a hard-tackling goal-kicking small forward, equally comfortable running through the midfield.

Down back, a good blend both of types, and of youth and experience. Duffield brings a wise head and leadership, coupled with his partner in one of the best rebounding defences in the league, Ibbotson. Trengove is one of the best young CHBs going around, McDonald can handle any gorilla forwards, and Hansen found a niche this year as a quality third tall. Finally, young Marley Williams is making a name for himself as a quality shutdown player, equally capable of setting up play.

Then you have the bench. Ollie Wines is a midfielder for the future. Petterd and Stanley offer versatility, each capable of playing in defence, midfield or up forward. Howlett as sub offers a hard body and winning attitude to throw into the game.

Finally, the depth. Redden is a solid young ruck, and Hudson is a reliable backup. Watson looks the goods as a key defender. Then, the team is rounded out with a suite of promising young midfielders - Bell, Macrae, Langford and Curren.

And if that's not enough to convince you, consider this: I didn't sit tight waiting for these guys to fall into my lap cheap. I'd spent more than half my cap by the third list. It took some serious wheeling and dealing to salvage a winning team from that wreckage.

B: Kade Simpson - Lachlan Keefe - Troy Chaplin

HB: Brett Deledio - Heath Grundy - Michael Hibberd

M: Daniel Hannebery - Luke Ball - Lance Franklin

HF: Jarryd Roughead - Taylor Walker - Paul Chapman

F: Cyril Rioli - Tom Hawkins - Steve Johnson

Foll: Todd Goldstein - Ryan Griffen(c) - David Mundy

Int: Andrew Carrazzo - Hamish Hartlett - Jack Steven

Sub: Jaeger O'Meara

Emg: Jack Martin - Brock McLean - Adam Goodes

Reserve: Taylor Hunt - Mark Blicavs - Sam Jacobs - Daniel Jackson - Josh Jenkins

The Backs -
art-353-mihael-hibberd-300x0.jpg
SS10_GrundySF_246E.jpg

A back line stocked with a group often referred to by Bruce McAvaney as 'The Dependables' - Led by a man with a heart almost as big as his beard, Kade Simpson, the old hands Heath Grundy and Troy Chaplin and the exciting youngster Lachie Keefe provide coverage for the tall timber, while 2 of the classiest players you'll ever see, Brett Deledio and Michael Hibberd provide unrivaled delivery out of the back half.

The Mids -
ryan_griffin.jpg
Hannebery_Rd1909_246a.jpg
ToddGold246a.jpg

An incredibly deep all star midfield group led by the classy captain Ryan Griffin, alongside Daniel Hannebery, Luke Ball, David Mundy, Hamish Hartlett, Jack Steven, the talented tagger who hurts both ways, Andrew Carrazzo, the man who can ruck all day and do it right, Todd Goldstein, and cameo roles by the rotating forwards Paul Chapman, Steve Johnson, Cyril Rioli, and super talents Jarryd Roughead and Lance Franklin. Not to mention the hottest young thing in football, super sub Jaeger O'Meara.

The Forwards -
373824-taylor-walker.jpg
CyrilRioli.jpg
Lance-Franklin-5849710.jpg

This is a forward line that will make any defence tremble. Arguably the greatest player of the modern era, Lance Franklin, isn't even required as a permanent forward, able to strut his stuff up to the wing and back while the big boys Tex Walker and Tom Hawkins keep the gorillas busy with a few snags of their own. Throw in the highly mobile Jarryd Roughead and a slew of incredibly talented small and medium forwards who go by the names Paul Chapman, Steve Johnson and Cyril Rioli, and you quite easily have the most powerful forward line in the comp.

The rest - When your best 22 is so good that Adam Goodes doesn't get a run, you know you're in a good spot. With the workmanlike Brock McLean and exciting youngster Jack Martin, an unforseen incident can be covered with only a minor loss to team performance. That leaves the reserves, with the adaptability of the entire squad, even a half dozen injuries to the best 22, while damaging, will still allow this team to compete with the best.

Just quietly, fodzilla, Hibberdton Clams is possibly the best team name I've ever seen. :D

Now don't mind me, carry on.

Not cool dude, thought we were mates....
