Googled who the wolf dude was from the loading screen.

Absolutely near zero chance you come across Blaidd organically.

I came across him organically... If you ignored the guy telling you exactly what to do I can see you forgetting about it though.

I just never would have talked to the merchant again. I’d bought his items ages ago. There was no prompt to go him. Once you buy his few key items there has never really a need to talk to merchants again.

Can see that, the game at least compared to the older games at least shows the new prompts. Can understand if you don't go to that area early on you're increasingly unlikely to revisit the first merchant.

But obscure NPC questlines have always been a staple, I try and get as many as I can organically on first playthrough and then look up the lines on youtube 😛

Yeah, I love replaying Souls games. Wanting to try out new builds and awesome looking weapons/spells I don't have the stats for, never mind all the areas and lore I've no doubt missed so far. One of those series where the more I read about/watch videos of, the more I want to play for myself.

i beat an optional boss that gave me a tailsman that very slowly gives you health back

Also beat the The big black horse boss he’s scary haha

Affinities is just a preference thing?

Affinities typically dictate how the weapon scales with your stats

pretty sure I'm right near the end of the game, though I wouldn't be surprised if they drop 10 new areas on me to explore.

Last day of my week off so I'm going to try and finish it tonight. I've sunk a decent little chunk of time into it and I know I've left a lot of corners of the world unexplored as well as a few bosses.

This game is going to get so many NG+ runs.

3 mainline bosses in one session!? Jeepers. I don't even know how thats possible without playing like 10 hours straight haha
nah I had previously unlocked close grace sites to all 3 and was putting them off as not to progress the story too much. It was only an hour and a bit worth, re-doing them after the power came back only took halfa or so as I knew what to expect and rejigged my build.

I did however play for a disgusting amount of time the night it released. Like 18 hours straight.

If it makes you feel any better I’ve been averaging about 10 hours straight time flys in this game

edit - not sure if I’m going to beat the game

I think ill give Bloodborne another go might wait till they release the next gen patch.
Good choice. It plays pretty different so do be prepared for that, but it's fantastic.

If I were to put the games in order of most worth playing next to least I'd go

DS2
Bloodborne
DS1
Demon Souls
DS3
Sekiro

Surely Demons Souls remake gets higher than that considering it's the best looking one of the lot.

I tried the PS4 version on ps5 and gee it runs so nice. The ps5 version is giving me really bad motion sickness because of the constant choppy frame rate. PS4 Version graphics look fine too. The only issue is you can’t move your ps5 save to PS4……
Looks like I’ll have to scrap my 10 hours of game play…….

Playing a mage build I dont think you really get to learn all the boss fights to their fullest extent. Its a case of just blast away from range until the boss goes down.
Playing melee you need to actually get up close and personal and learn when to attack, roll, parry and dodge etc.
Im playing both at the moment and you can really see the difference in difficulty.

Based more off story and gameplay. Looks wise isn't an important to me (graphics). But yes, it's very pretty.

DS3 at the bottom? 🥴
A bottom placed souls game is still a top ranked of all time game.

A power outage just set me back 3 main bosses, 2 optional bosses and two new areas discovered. Fml.

Not sure it's even possible to lose that much progression given how these games work, worst case scenario you should have only lost the last thing you did.
