My first souls game as well would have never picked that I would be hooked

It’s put my play through of HFW a game that I’ve been frothing to play on the back burner

Bloodborne and Sekiro the way to go after this. Elden ring has pretty much perfected the Souls games.

Have you mastered leaving messages that say Try finger but whole?

Don't think I tried Sekiro I tried Nioh and was getting my ass kicked and stopped playing it. now that I have had some experince if with a souls type game with Elden Ring I will go back and give he other games another go.

The next main boss il be facing from what iv'e read is Red Wolf of Radagon that name alone tells me that boss is going to be even more of a pain in the arse then the previous ones

I can only speak for myself, but he's a bit easier. The boss directly after that is pretty cool.

If you beat those 2 bosses you'll be fine now, they were the hardest main ones. Smooth sailing from here. There will be a few comparable side ones but that's about it.

I absolutely suck at games, let alone Souls types games. But Twitch streams showing the batshit crazy encounters, along with the awesome atmospheric level design is starting to grab me.

That and reading you guys talk about it is giving me a case of FOMO and wanting to give a try.

That being said I do love my TV in one piece.

That being said I do love my TV in one piece.

It just takes a minute to adjust to the souls style. Once you come to terms with the fact you’ll die thousands of times in the game you accept it for what it is and begin to chase that high of beating an near impossible boss.

Can see that, the game at least compared to the older games at least shows the new prompts. Can understand if you don't go to that area early on you're increasingly unlikely to revisit the first merchant.

But obscure NPC questlines have always been a staple, I try and get as many as I can organically on first playthrough and then look up the lines on youtube

I think I might have been passed Godrick by the time I went to that area. Most merchant trips were to the Roundtable by that stage.

I had never played a souls game before this. The game is unbelievable. Easily in the top 5 best games I’ve played (and I’ve been playing games for a long time)

Is a bit hard starting out but you get used to it.
I can’t remember being so into a game. It literally takes you to another world and completely immerses you in it.

Have only done 2 things since my last post with the photo, I decided to take on that giant..... poked him, ran away, still died

Went back to the nearby area, on the beach ?? where there was an octopus looking creature, decided to attack it, barely took away any health. And died!

** Managed to get to a site where I can now level up, and have explored a cave of wolves. Can't quite beat the "boss" of that mini area though. I've come very close (25% health remaining). I've also picked up a great sword on the back of a wagon type structure, need to get to 16 strength to hold it properly.

Still extremely early game - technically have only gone through the tutorial successfully and have just explored nearby areas since, about 3ish hours of game time (2 hours of taking on knights and dying a lot lolol).

Was farming some giant crabs on the beach thinking this is fairly simple, I'll go check out the woods.
Came across a bear scratching a tree who looked like easy enough prey.
Stab, Stab, SWIPE, DEAD.
Nope, it was not easy enough

Dumb question but some of the "bonfires" I rest at don't reset the flask counter....

Am I going bonkers ?

You have to actually rest at them, not just discover them. Thought you were a Dark Souls 'expert'?

yeah if you're resting at them they should replenish. Not sure why they wouldn't be. Maybe a bug.

I'm "resting" and sitting at them when I discover them so there's no need to be a mr smarty pants thank you very much. Some of the one's I've back-tracked to (eg: near the cave with the wolves), I stand back up and the flask is either empty or still at the stationary number (1 or 2), to get the full amount back (3 or a recently upgraded 4) I've had to die and retrace my steps again.
