At almost 130 hours - reaching level 168... I finished Elden Ring.

Admittedly I didn't do EVERY quest line, and I'm sure I missed a few of the bosses throughout "the lands between". But the main story is done and dusted. I know I got every boss done in Limgrave and the next few areas.... but mid/late game was a bit of a rush job (considering I did mountaintop of the giants from easter long weekend - to get to the end story last night, it was only about 15 hours of game time. I'd probably have to sink up to 300 hours to get EVERY single item and questline finished.

The last few bosses just flew by, I thought the Fire Giant was going to take forever.... managed to get lucky on the run I beat him last week. The Godskin Duo was relatively easy in comparison (I just copied the Ornstein/Smough playbook lol).

Malekith was a pain, but I eventually beat him
I lol'd with Gideon - he went down FAST similar to my experience with the Godrick soldier tutorial boss.
Godfrey/Hoarah - was EASIER than his golden form from earlier in the game!!
Malenia wasn't easy, but wasn't too difficult.
Radagon/Elden Beast - were beaten on my second attempt. I think I just got lucky because they fluffed up Elden beast in the most recent patch.

Have to say that I'm enjoying "journey 2" (or NG+ in Dark Souls language). Have been flying through the game, well at least up until the events of the "festival" forgot how to trigger it and had to re-learn quickly. Beat Radahn in less than a minute as well, loving being super powerful (won't likely face "difficulty" until I reach the end game once again.

I find myself watching people play this for hours on twitch, surely this is the most streamable game ever?

Sometimes when I can't be bothered playing it through I will still sometimes flick on Woolie or Pats stream of this.

Completed the platinum today just short of 100 hours. What a great game.

I used moonveil for about 80% of the play thought then swapped to dark moon great sword then a complete respec to blasphemous blade build. Blasphemous build is incredibly strong probably the strongest in the game with the buffs. Definitely good fun. Skipped the rivers of blood which apparently broken at the moment.

Hardest bosses for me were the blood guy, Astel of the void and obviously melania.

Melania had this amazing piece of game play where I had been summoning guys for a couple of hours trying to find someone who was able to dodge her one hit sequence. Eventually found someone who could do it. Battle went good until the 2nd phase where my helper was suddenly down to low health and no flasks. We fought the last 25% of her with both of us on basically zero hp. Such a rush I’m not sure I can think of another game where you get that kind of experience.

Finished it for a second time just before

Went through it even faster (due to not dying every few boss fights and knowing the pathway). Even did a few extra side quests I didn't do last time and faced bosses I didn't actually meet previously and they promptly kicked my arse (due to not knowing their patterns). Barely got hurt in the early game, did have to redo the Elden Beast fight twice though.

Rocking dual Rivers of Blood swords now

This is my first FromSoftware game and I've been at it a few weeks. Margit, Godrick, and Red Wolf of Radagon down, along with two dragons and a bunch of other random bosses.

Level 60 currently and running with a Faith build (30 Faith, 20 Vigor, 20 Mind, bit in Str and Dex and largely ignoring the rest). Uchi +8 with Sacred Sword in the right hand, Finger Seal +8 in the left throwing black fireballs everywhere. Leaning heavily on my banished knight +6 summon for bosses but meh.

Took some getting used to the game mechanics. Died a lot. Was probably expecting more RPG mechanics - a more lively open world, memorable NPCs, choices etc but now I understand the focus was on the game design and mechanics instead. The lore seems pretty cool, but let's face it - the story is confusing nonsense and the NPCs are lifeless husks. Doesn't matter when the game is this addictive though. It's dominating my life currently!

Don't be afraid to change things up, farm runes and level up some key stats, or adjust your play style. To beat the Elden Beast in 'journey 2' I actually resorted to using a shield for the first time since I started playing the game in March. The tactic worked, even when I had to adjust how I launched my attacks.

Instead of restarting from scratch, I'm going to push ahead with Journey 3 and start upgrading my INT/FAITH stats more up to 50-60 (at 500,000 runes per level - it's going to take a while lol).

I've shifted out of Strength which I was doing initially, as it made no sense to keep putting points into it once I got a Faith scaling Ash of War. Thinking I might keep a medium shield equipped for emergencies as it won't put me into the heavy load category.

Definitely need to find some better rune farming locations. That field of five giants before stormveil castle did me justice at the lower levels but it doesn't cut it anymore.

That's the gatefront loop as well??

I literally did from the Gatefront bonfire, well I spawned there, ran up toward the castle (well as far as making the giant jump down), took him out, then the gatefront enemies and a surrounding lap. That was about 4-6,000 runes per 5-8 minutes.

Another good farming locations is near Lennes Rise (YouTube it). Run down a hill and let a boulder spawn, dodge and let it roll off the cliff and you get just under 2000 runes, the grace site is nearby so you can ravk up 20,000+ quickly. There's another area nearby where the enemies are 1,000 per kill (but they pretty much 1 hit kill you - especially early on).

Look for the golden scarab, it'll give you a runes boost per enemy kill.

I use the Beastial Sanctum area, just creep on the Vulgar Militia enemies and critical stab 1 shot for 1094 runes per enemy and there's double digits in the area. Plus you occasionally get their gear to sell for 100 runes a piece so it adds up and doesn't take long.

Yeah that's the spot.

I've got access to both the Bestial Sanctum and Altus Plateau now so will give them a shot. Will definitely go after the Golden Scarab too.

Go Northish in Altus Plateau -

DOMINULA, WINDMILL VILLAGE

There's a few enemies there that can be taken out with ease (the difficulty is that they are in groups). They're only worth 279 runes a kill but they rack up quickly and the grace site is nearby for a quick respawn.

There are a few late game locations that are good for a quick rune boost (not much help as by the late game, most people are leveled enough to handle the end game areas.... but they are still handy to do for a quick few thousand if you need to buy some stones or other equipment).

Yep I'm at the spot at the moment haha. It has very RE4 vibes.

Finally finished my first run!

a little less than 200 hours
about level 190.
melee, no summons/ashes summons except the once coz i thought it might be necessary for blaidd's questline.
only cheesed once - ulcerated dickhead near the sewers because i just couldn't be bothered anymore.

as i am terrible at these games im pleased i could stick it out with the above rules.

also did some intense number crunching to provide the following data for numbers of deaths and their causes :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

deaths.png

now im off to be a wizard!

Well done!!!

** Last night I faced one of the Evergaol bosses, I died (totally shocked as I've been beating bosses easily) didn't get a hit in .. but as my death animation was cycling through - the boss decided to die as well (had the boss felled text appear). Meanwhile I went to the next screen and respawned, only to die again after the loading screen. This occurred 2 more times and I started to feel as though I was Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow. It returned to normal after the next load screen.

Rennala, Magma Wyrm and Ancestor Spirit down.

Is general consensus that Rennala is this easiest boss? I had more trouble with that jerk of a sword fighter at the bottom of the elevator.

Was visually the best boss fight by a long shot thus far though.
I had a harder time with the gold knight on the horse at the start of the game than I did with Rennala.

I just ran past him and stood on the lift fending him off until the lift went up.

When I died and went back to the area thinking i'd have to get past him, he was gone and never to be seen again hehe!
