Well I caved and brought this. Had heaps of spare time to kill the last few days. Been off work. Hated every Souls game I played.

Can only play this an hour at a time before I get frustrated and quit.

Don't want to use guides heaps but it looks like I'll be doing heaps of YouTube.

I'm guessing levelling up/grinding is a massive part of this game. I have no idea what anything does.

Wish me luck. Might have wasted $99.

I don't think I truly enjoyed it until after 20+ hours. And I was still raging when fighting the final boss.

is there a reason some of the spells dont work? ive got my INT up to the level required and still nothing. some spells work fine.

Some spells have arcane & faith requirements, right?

so it doesnt work the same as the poison mist or dragon heads? i wanna bow type to help take down the fire giant.

Which one? I know the one where you throw the purple boulders you need a staff.

Found a nice farming spot, plan is to build my defence up to stop getting one shot by the crucible knight.

Also took the lift to the Plateau but I don’t think I’m meant to be there yet…

This game has ruined video games for me. I feel like nothing will satiate me ever again - like a person who eats human flesh and can no longer be satisfied with anything else - it all just seems tedious and empty compared to Elden Ring.
Yep. I went back to Horizon and it basically sucks

I’ve played through the game a couple of times now and got most of the achievements. Have racked you about 330 hrs since launch but have slowed down and hardly played it for a few weeks. My initial build was strength/melee but I didn’t really make the most of it. Ended up using a blood ash on a standard sword and mimic tear from Farum Azula onwards + a great shield. On my second adventure I invested in Dexterity and dropped the shield for dual twinblades - Godskin Skewer with blood ash on both. It absolutely wrecks most bosses.

Fav part of the game was just the sheer exploration and sense of achievement from making progress. Ended up beating Malenia solo (no summon/spirit) which is probably the most challenging/infuriating thing I’ve ever done in a game. She’s probably harder than Sigrun on the highest difficulty if you don’t use cheese options for her.

Just purchased this game as a friend recommended it. But I get an error saying that i dont have a PS Plus subsciption, despite the fact I do and its active. So i can only play in offline mode. Did a bit of digging around on Reddit and its been a known bug since March.

Anyone else encounter this problem and know of a solutuon? I only bought the game to play with my mate online.

Interesting comparison. I found myself way less frustrated with Sigrun than many other soulsborne bosses. Sekiro alone, so many bosses had me tearing my hair out. But I also found Sigrun way more fun than Malenia. In fact, Malenia is really not fun at all. I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily because i enjoy embracing that sheer dread from time to time.

That was fixed in a day - not sure what's going on there.

I don’t want this game to end. Up to farum azula and am doing every side quest I can to avoid finishing it.

Even started levelling up faith just to add an extra dimension to my character.

Anyone else think Astel is the hardest boss (second encounter) in the game?

Astel is definitely a prick. I think the hardest boss depends a lot on both your build and your level.

Trying to fight Astel from a distance is a recipe for disaster, so not great for some spell and bow users. Getting in and under him screws him up pretty good though.

On the flipside some bosses are much easier to pick at from a distance with lightning bolts etc. All depends on their moveset really.

I thought Astel was one of the easiest, got it first go.

The Fire Giant made me want to throw my controller through the TV though.
Funny how things are so different for different people. I really struggled with Astel. I don't think I even got hit by Fire Giant.

Found the mimic tear today and made my way towards the capital, the Draconic Tree Sentinel is making pretty light work of me though.

I’m starting to feel like I need to move onto something else soon though.
