I have been feeling pretty drained of late, a lack of energy, and have been finding it a struggle to workout at a high intensity.

Was wondering what supplements some of you might be using to give you a bit of an energy boost.

Any of the creatine based supplements. Have been using it for the last 6 months (now off it for a while) and it definately helps.

I wouldn't worry about supplements. Go get a big bag of fruit, a few cartons of eggs, tuna and drink water like its going out of fashion. Cut down on alcohol and cigarettes and don't touch creatine unless your properly hydrated. It will dry you out like a motherfecker

Have been drinking plenty of water, that's for sure.

Guess I will continue to eat the right stuff, see how I am feeling in a little while.

have you been to the docs to get checked out?
I would do that. Then if all good, I would take a multi vite tab. I prefer supradyn effervescent tabs, as they act immediately for me and really perk me up when I am run down.I also take 2 a day instead of one, and usually take for a week. Thats just me though.

Yeah - take some vitamins for a few days to give yourself a boost. A multi is OK. B-group can be enough if you're eating well. A lot of men lack zinc so take that - especially if you're sexually active. Other than that - it might be a bit of 'winter blues' so catch as much sunlight as you can.

Will try that. Have been feeling a bit lethargic of late.

Methampetamines! ;)

But serious, yes fruit is awesome. There's a lot of evidence to suggest an apple is as good as caffeine for waking you up.

Eat light, which is really hard when you're fatigued, so many people crave the heavy unhealthy stuff and after a feed of that, all you want to do is snooze.

Have a shower. It's worth the equivalent of a couple of hours sleep.

Caffeine?

Be careful when you go to the doctors, I know alot of people who have been prescribed a variety of different presciption medications such as lexapro, prozac and other anti deppressants when going to the doctor's with these symptoms.

Some of the other advice in this thead has been good though, even if you have to give working out a rest for a short while, it'll be better to attack it 100% when you get back to it than go at it with less energy and not get much if any benefit from it and even perhaps hurt yourself.

Caffeine only has a short term benefit anyway, it increases the amount of adenosine receptors in the central nervous system, so you have to take more and more of it to have an effect.

I take way too much caffeine :(

Hello Campbell,

I use to get supradyn effervescent too but in Canada I cannot find any.
Can you send me a link from where I can order?
Thanks,
Zepi

Bananas & cordial bottles keep me going. :thumbsu:

I've used the following pre-workout supplements:

  • Gaspari SuperPump 250
  • Muscle Pharm Assault
  • MRI Black Powder

I've had some very noticeable results from using MRI Black Powder, especially compared to the others. You also don't need to take it on off-days which will save you a bundle.

I'd recommend trying out a PWO supplement if your really hankering for some intense energy during your workout sessions.

excersise is the single most important thing you can do to keep your energy up.
that as well as having a regular sleeping pattern and eat fruit rather than drink coffee.
a coffee to start the day is good but it stays in your system for like 6 hours so having in the afternoon will disrupt your sleep.

Going back a few years now but my uni stats lecturer used to drink about 8 coffees a day each with 6 sugars! Funny thing was he was thin as a rake.

I don't recommend it though.
Increase fruit, veg and gentle exercise in fresh air instead.
