Totally unexpected result, but it does add a different complexion to the race.

All comes down to Wednesday night still, win and I would expect us to see it out. Draw and we're in a good position but still all to play for. Lose and its not over but Arsenal have the upper hand.

Consciously avoided watching the game tonight as I could only see an Arsenal win. But folded at 0-2. Was a riveting match.

Get the feeling there's a lot of emotion around the Arsenal squad, and that's probably not a great thing for them. It's part of Zinchenko's makeup and there's a lot of positives in that, but I think he needs to calm down a touch.

Wednesday night will be a great occasion for both teams. Can't wait.

Yes it is very noticeable the level of emotion from Arsenal. I’ve had that sense these last few matches. More so playing the occasion rather than playing the game.

Youngest team in the league. Youngest manager in the league. This is to be expected and that level of emotional maturity has to be learned and earned. Zinchenko is an excellent addition and leader however he needed much more composure tonight. Xhaka’s absence from the pitch also hurt in that respect.

Zidane has gone into full Arsenal fan mode in these threads lately.

Some of the comments in here “it’s over” etc… City 1 point ahead if they win their 2 games in hand (with FA Cup and CL to worry about) and also still have to play Arsenal. It’s a very close race. All things considered it’s about 50/50 right now.

Pretty harsh on Holding. He’s not losing the ball in the midfield or making an errant pass from keeper. The side obviously plays a little differently but he’s hardly been bad apart from the pen at Anfield.

Going back to the FA Cup defeat to us in January, Arsenal have only won 7 of their last 16 matches in all comps.

Bad run at the start, bad run now and a good stretch in the middle. But even during the good stretch they had a few shaky games.

Doesn't mean anything now, but my Arsenal mate at work has saying they've been struggling for a while now. Looking at those results, maybe he's right.

While I can get the 7 minutes (ended up being 8 or 9) added on in the first half, I couldn't quite believe the 8 minutes (ended up being nearly 10) in the second.

Bit of consistency please refs. We see time wasting from the first minute in most games at our place, rarely would we get more than 3 minutes added on.

Even if Arsenal fail to win the Premier League this season (which i am still reluctant to subscribe to yet) they have had a remarkably brilliant and astonishing season that had firmly put them back as an English Football powerhouse after 10 plus years in the doldrums.

It has been a great season regardless of the outcome, but it will be really interesting to see if they can back it up with another strong year next year.

Kroenke should've backed Arteta on Caicedo. Sounds like he would've moved if Arsenal coughed up Brighton's demand. Would have made a big difference vs the very underwhelming Jorginho for 12m. They don't have the squad. Holding / Viera are not up to it. And they have 3 30 + midfielders, 2 of which play alongside Odergaard.

Kroenke should've backed Arteta on Caicedo. Sounds like he would've moved if Arsenal coughed up Brighton's demand. Would have made a big difference vs the very underwhelming Jorginho for 12m. They don't have the squad. Holding / Viera are not up to it. And they have 3 30 + midfielders, 2 of which play alongside Odergaard.

Because he wasn’t for sale. They said that to Chelsea. And then to Arsenal. And were quite angry when Arsenal came back with another bid - so much so that it took a phone call between Bloom and Tim Lewis (a director of Arsenal) to smooth things out and restore relations.

He and/or Rice would be transformative for Arsenal’s midfield. In the end another option in that area of the pitch was much needed and the club pivoted to Jorginho instead. Arsenal are still a few windows away from have the squad depth to not have such a drop off when key members of the team are absent/injured.

To be 2-0 down, at home, against the bottom side is pretty poor. Ramsdale's pass was horrific, and he definitely should have played it wide. Southampton are fighting for their survival so a game like this is never a guaranteed three points. We should have done so much better though. No Xhaka was a huge loss, and Partey was rubbish for their third, along with Zinny. And as great as Zinny is going forward, he is a liability defensively. If we have the chance to get a better LB next season, we absolutely should.

It is disappointing though to see over the last few weeks we have begun to crumble. The squad is young though, and obviously lacking depth. Injuries have also come at bad times, and the loss of Saliba cannot be understated.

Either way, I think every Gooner is proud of this club and how far it's come. I think anybody would have bitten off both hands if we were offered this before the season begun.

We can use this as a platform to move forward with and it's only a matter of time I feel before we win the league.

The game on Wednesday just becomes so much bigger now. I do feel Haaland will have Holding for breakfast. Gotta be in it to win it though and I am sure we'll see much a better performance.

Caicedo himself just stated he almost joined in Jan. Obviously still wants to. Chelsea bid 55m and Arsenal 60m supposedly - never enough in a mid season window.

Seems to me Kroenke went for the easy option of Jorginho who was almost out of contract.
