Agree. Hawks were very inaccurate... at the same time, * were unusually accurate as well - not too many games where they'll kick 17.5 from 22 scoring shots.

The most worrying thing for them is they're still a pack of downhill skiers, shown little to no improvement on their defensive game. They've conceded 28 scoring shots against the Hawks (who only managed to get 13 against the Demons) and 36 against the Swans...

They'll finish between 9th-13th.

Unsociable footy is a euphemism for trying to get away with dog acts on the field to put your opponent off their game.

As if that’s a new idea that they’ve come up with. It’s just telling the competition “ look, we haven’t got the skills or tactical ability to win but we are trying to be hard to play against, here’s some knuckle”.

The commentary of this game was next level cringe. The way they hyped up ‘the inspirational Essendon captain’ was beyond ridiculous.

Merrett tackles - “what an inspirational captain this young man is”

Merrett kicks a goal - “he’s lifting this football team on his shoulders”.

Merrett tackles again - “this is one unbelievable game from a captain who is willing his team to a famous victory” (they were three goals down).

They also brought out the “brave” word.

Luke Darcy the imbecile absolutely barracking for them at one stage.

Zach Merrett is very inspirational. Here is a bloke that signed a 6 year contract with * when he could have just gone to a good club as an FA and played finals. He has inspired a generation of players not to do the same thing.

If the AFL is serious, they will do whatever they can to eradicate this style of throwback football (that’s what it is) that they are attempting to dish up.

The better teams are able to use these tactics at times but in more controlled ways, however what the England Cricket team Essendon Football Club does is really an unskilled version of slogging sniping. The English media Channel 7 commentary team rave about the teams tactics thinking that they are genius. When the tactics of the team invariably fails, they suggest that the team at least had a moral victory were brave in their defeat, and at least that they played in a style that they should be proud of, despite losing.
