Essendon and Marquee games

We have too many.

How do I know? Because I have been consistently disappointed in watching us perform in them during recent seasons. Last week an exception... but we weren't playing much.

They can have as many Marquee games as they like as long as they keep leaving finals and grand finals to the big boys.

Good Friday should have stayed North v Dogs, 43k turned up and the match was decided on the siren. The AFL couldn’t just let it build.

On the contrary, I don't think they have enough...

Richmond make way for Essendon to face Carlton in season opener.
Collingwood make way for Essendon to face Melbourne on Queen's Birthday.
Why not have them play Port Adelaide in China?
Perhaps a wildcard or automatic spot in the finals series.

A special Christmas match maybe against St. Kilda. A Labour Day special against the Dogs. NYE against the Hawks.

Why not have the AFL put a word in and get Channel Seven to televise their intra-club match?

The bombers need this.

The AFL need the bombers. If we left the AFL and formed our own league, it would shit all over the AFL.

North v Dogs always seems to be a great match, irrespective of ladder positions. The change was stupid.

I'm leaning towards an intraclub marquee game. Essendon shirts vs skins at the G in front of 85k.

Maybe. As I said I don’t think Essendon particularly want it... they’re really keen on the Thursday night vs Carlton. Though that’s probably the more sought-after timeslot and there’ll be stiff competition for that.

The Afl told ess and carl to come back in few years time. They want Carlton to sort out there on field concerns. It will happen eventually.
