I think you guys have a very promising list with plenty of potential. Knights is doing a good job despite the critisisim he recieved early on. You have some big wins under your belt with victorys over Carlton, Collingwood and now Hawthorn (forgive me if I left anyone out lol). You seem to be moving and moving quickly. The run on friday night was excellent and if youse can keep the pace, you should be quite a force to be wrecking with for the rest of the season.

I think it will be very interesting when we see McVeigh back in the side along with one of your newest recruits, the promising Brent Prismall. Your young players such as Zaharakis are performing and players like Monfries have really stupped up their game.

At first I didn't understand the way in which Lloyd was being used but his game on Friday night was suberb. He has taken the Richo approach and in doing so it is giving alot of your younger forwards time and confidence as they build towards the future. The future looks very promising and if Brent Prismall can come in and be the superstar many expect him to be, there could be some very exciting times ahead.

In a few years much like Melbourne, you should be flying. The future is definetly bright and with the youngters you have plus the ones you recruit in the next few drafts, you should be well on your way. You have beaten some tops sides and if anybody underestimates Essendon this year, they will be beaten.

Keep running and keep up the good work. remain positive, things are happening. The wheels are in motion and a very pleasent change is in full effect.

My 2centz.

PS: I wrote this as a Thank You to Daytripper who posted a great piece on the Melbourne board. I felt it was only fair to return the favour, My write up isn't as good but hey, it's something. Thanks Again ;)http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/member.php?u=8470

Thanks for your comments. I also hope the Dees can make their way up the ladder. We need the establishment Melbourne clubs to consistently perform.

You did well to push the Eagles so close in Subiaco. If that game were at home surely you would have smashed them.

We smashed them down here last year so yeah, your probably right :D
Was dissapointing to lose though. Ahwell, picks 1 & 2 could be good if things go down that path.

As for the Bombers, like I said, They've really impressed me in the last few weeks. I'm a Believer. :thumbsu:

Thanks AOMSD!

I haven't read Daytripper's post but I too am a fan of Melbourne, particularly the backline once it can all get on the park... I absolutely love Garland!!! :thumbsu:

... and one can't forget arguably the best pick up in a draft since Buddy, Watts!!! ;)

It'll be a lot sooner for Melbourne to rise through the ranks than many think, I suppose the same could be said of Essendon! Look forward to playing you in future finals series!!! :)

Cheers for the words, I thought Melbourne looked good on the weekend and the only thing that stopped the win was a key forward to come in and support Miller, should be well on your way when Watts comes in, best of luck for the rest of the year.

Thanks all :thumbsu:

As for Watts...apparently he is set to debut against the Bombers this year :D
Should be a good game, especially if Watts plays ;)

Cheers mate, saw Watts in the VFL last week and was very impressed with him.

You have a champion forward on your hands there.

Thanks all :thumbsu:

haha the rematch, watts vs hurley..
nah by the time you guys play us i would expect fletcher to get watts. pears on miller.

i agree about melbourne though towards the end of next season i expect them to really start showing the talent that they have

thanks mate, very good post. IMO Watts is a class player, but the player I'm most excited about is young Bennell, he looks like he'll play for 12 years+. how bad is Rivers btw? I rate him very highly, hated that injury :thumbsd::(

The two clubs are very similar IMO with Essendon probably 18 months ahead at the moment.

Both lists are chronically under-rated in the media and by the football world in general, both have similar under-rated and innovative coaches who are trying to put their own stamp on the team and both (most importantly) have drafted extremely well in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds of recent drafts.

Also both clubs have been shockingly hit by the injury stick over the past year or two adding to the misconception that neither club is any good.

I'd be surprised if Melbourne won less than 4 games this year but to be frank I don't really think they need that extra pick anyway.

What topic did this Daytripper bloke post about? In the midst of a horrendous list, questionable coach, lack of leadership, atrocious crowds, genuine irrelevance, injuries and another disgraceful start to the season what could this bloke have possible posted about that has made you so pleased?

It's the blunt truth. The only positive I can see other then a couple of high draft picks recently is your membership numbers.

Thanks for the gracious post though.
