Personally I've always liked Essendon and loved Hird as a player and I'm sad this is happening to them really..but at the end of the day it's not my club so it's all just good entertainment and fodder. I love reading the hate and vitriol

The players that took the banned drugs will be banned for a season. I have inside word on this, so if i was an Essendon supporter i wouldnt be making these stupid statements. WADA will come down even harder if the AFL attempts to water down the punishment given to all parties involved.

WADA and ASADA appear to put a huge hole in Essendon's planned defence, declaring the anti-obesity substance off limits for athletes in any circumstances.
Both ASADA and WADA tell the Herald Sun there are no loopholes, justifications or ways around the use of AOD-9604, officially banned in January 2011.

Because, frankly, thats the best-case scenario for Essendon at the moment - WADA have been appealing 12 month drug sentences as "too light", and winning ... and in this one, they have players who actually signed forms saying they were willing to take prohibited drugs, and they had a club who bought those prohibited drugs for them.
