Salmon seems to have made it into Hawthorn's team of the century as their second best ruckman of all time. Says something about 100 years of Hawk ruckman from that era.

Says more about Essendon, that Sheedy coaxed him out of retirement after he played so many great seasons at Hawthorn and became an AA ruckman.

Yep, it was disgusting.

But Fish also had a massive number of fans at Essendon, don't pain everyone with the same brush.

It also says a lot about Sheeds that he was able to turn Wellman into an AA Premiership defender and Barnard into a solid contributor in a Premiership side.

Yeah, Longy, I know it wasn't all of your supporters. I'd imagine there would've beena bit of tension between bombers fans that day.
I remember listening to it on the radio and being disgusted.
No club should ever turned on there own like that. Richmond included.

Anyway, he came to us and proved his worth, quickly became a favourite amongst Hawthorn fans and we genuinely loved the big guy.

Getting back to what 'Crave' had to say, if pointing out that Salmon was rated so highly at Hawthorn was suppose to be insulting, it missed the mark terribly.

Alot gets said about Dermott these days considering his media work and commentary, but it must be remembered he was an absolute star CHF.
I know it gets forgotten, and I know 70% of BF choose to ignore any player that happened to be running around more than a year ago but Brereton will always be remembered as one of the greatest CHF's the game has seen.
He may have handed it out, but he copped it as well.

agree, he was awesome to watch (except for those collingwood & sydney days)

every team would give their left nuts for a Brereton in their team. He's most likely carry 15 of them to a flag.

Either way, in over 100 years of footy.... every team has had it's fair share or morons who can play a solid game of footy.

What I laughed at most was the fact that to get a handful of Essendon boneheads Chewy had to go all the way back to Scanlens cards with the free bubblegum..... and beyond!!!

Also, Chewy.... if you're reading this. Ken Fraser is a man of ethics and twice the intelligence of you and I put together. He was my school principal and a good bloke. Perhaps in his playing days he was a different person... either way, im doubting you or I were around to know the difference.

I know a few hawfforn fans and the majority were definetly in the " ohh no, what have we done" category , and this was before he missed the first six games of his first season. And then there were the ones that could never accept his "Essendoness" Yeah, they eventually came around but this was only after proving all doubters and particularly sheedy, wrong. Simple fact is this. Essendon doesnt give a rats arse about Hawthorn. It's Hawthorn who are constantly comparing themselves to Essendon. What makes it funny is the only time the Hawks can truly say they're a better outfit is when Essendon are on the bottom of the ladder.
