Why thankyou very much my friend.

It was a good win, but we have plenty of work to do.

Good win by the Dons.

Ryder and Hill combining for 7 goals is huge.

Big test this week against their bogey side ;)

How much are the tigers paying? It would be just our style to beat the Saints and lose to Richmond.

Since the ANZAC day debacle we have lifted our intensity through tackles and contested possessions. I think it may be hard to make finals at this stage but if we can at least play with this intensity I will be happy.

Any goals Ryder kicked must have had an astericks next to it. He was playing on Zac Dawson.

I wouldn't mind putting money on the Tiges. They have played some good footy, have had a scent of victory in recent weeks, and play well against Essendon.

Winderlich pkayed one of his few good games that he produces a year, so if goes back to his normal output, the Tiges are a massive chance and a good bet.

FWIW, I thought the Bombers were a good bet at $2.90 last night.

Good win by the Bombers last night, says a lot about the Saints as well a massive fall, I don't think they have a plan B to fall back on. But all credit to the Bombers, should set them up for a charge at the finals now.

Pleased to beat the Saints. Especially since it's a real case of defensive, zoning type football vs fast, free-flowing and somewhat unaccountable footy by us. Hopefully we don't get struck down by omissions to our talls too much.

Talls out
- Hille - suspension (hopefully no more than 2 weeks)
- Pears - broken arm (3-4 weeks away. Some suggesting might return next week. :S)
- Hooker - hamstring tear (3-4 weeks)
- NLM - quad strain (hopefully back next week)

All four losing game time just as they start hitting some red hot form. Hopefully doesn't upset the balance for too long because I'm no longer convinced with Hurley playing down back. Neither Ryder. NLM has been dominant at the stoppages but still a handy swingman down back as well. Frees up Hurley to go forward if needed.

edit*: Oh, and Laycock (who would come in for Hille) is out for 6 weeks with a broken foot. :(

Essendon have been playing way below the ability of their list. Will give most teams a run from here if they keep their tails up.

Rubbish - the are 3-5 with the Tigers, Dogs, Syd in Syd and Cats. 4 - 8 their season is over.

Yeah the last 3 weeks have been ok but some work still needs to be done. I bet next week against richmond will be a very close game.

you just love an assumption, don't you?

24 hours ago you would have said there was no way in the world Essendon could beat St Kilda, yet here we are

I'm surprised he didn't put the odd's up, it's normally his go to factor to help his point of view.

Tiges should be a win. Bulldogs have been both up and down recently, so it depends how they're going when we play them. And Sydney isn't as good as people think. Sure they've had injuries the last couple, but it's no coincidence that they start to lose when they play decent teams all of a sudden.

Cats will win again for sure, but 5-7 doesn't mean the season would be over. Got to take the fixture into account.

Easily had the worst draw of any team in the comp.

Have played 6 teams in the top 8 and only two teams outside the 8. We finish off the top 8 sides in 3 weeks with Bulldogs and Swans coming up. Then we are lucky enough to play Geelong again straight after that.

Meanwhile a team like St Kilda only plays 4 top 8 teams in the next 14 weeks. That is ridiculous.

The sooner the inequality of the draw is fixed the better. To be fair Carlton and Collingwood cop the short end of the draw as well but ours is fractionally worse.

You reckon Essendon has had a harder start? Carlton have had 3 road trips, and played 3 teams from last year's top 4 (Geelong, Collingwood, St Kilda). - The other games were Richmond and Essendon....

In fairness to the AFL, before the season began Freo would've been seen as not a top 8 side I reckon.

Sorry Lance,

I like your style but I have to disagree with you here.

The Bombers were always a good chance against the Saints. They have pace, which the Sainst don't like, and you beat them last year, this time they were without Riewoldt.

If I had the time, I would have put money on the Bombers at $2.90, and even still, I know people that thought they were too short and should have been longer odds.

Having said that, the Bombers have some good kids, but you would expect that they will fall short of finals in 2010. Too many deficiancies, and certainly a development year when you are trying to get games into your spine, whilst lacking stars in the middle. But you can never assume in footy.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought the Bombers would win, let alone assuming the Saints would cruize through the game and take the chocolates.

Unfortunately most of the focus from yesterdays game has been centered around St Kilda bashing. I think this is a shame because the Bombers were fantastic and deserve enormous credit for a great win.
Loved the way they held their nerve and kept attacking to the end. If Essendon had tried to bottle it up and run the clock down the saints would have rolled them I reckon.
