Thanks for all your passionate comments and thoughts. We totally understand your frustrations and will be working hard with the AFL and Telstra to rectify them. This sort of feedback is invaluable in our discussions with them to ensure the best possible experience for our fans.

FYI, I am off to the game at Etihad now, but will check-in over the weekend to try to answer any questions and read more comments.

Aka we just sold our soul and are going to do nothing... Telstra aren't going to change their shoddy design just for us.

E.I

I know it's not your fault, but why in the hell did we sell our soul to Telstra?? BigPond has to be the buggiest video I've ever tried to watch, I am one very unhappy member.

When I was overseas I could not access any videos on the AFL website. What is the bet that any Essendon supporter oveseas loses access to the only way to keep in touch with the EFC.

Pathetic decision- doubt the money could even be that much. Bend over on this- bet the clash jumper is next.

I have been very impressed with the EFC over the past six months but it seems they are out to sell anything to the highest bidder.

Thanks for the comment.

Am I right in saying perhaps the club's hands were tied in this decision?

If you are one of the lucky ones to get it to work, when you are viewing in full screen you can actually count the pixels the resolution is that bad:thumbsdown:

When I saw this news on fb today I was very disappointed. I know that I was proud that we were the only club independent from Telstra and their rubbish. EFC you have sold out and the majority of members and supporters will not be happy with this decision. The video doesn't bloody work. And the fact we have lost old videos and will probably lose more is frustrating.
I was overseas for a month last year during the footy season and bomberTV and the efc website was a godsend. Now if you are overseas, you can forget about that. Not happy.

Football's a business. Not surprised.

Doesn't mean I'm satisfied with the switch though.

Agreed.

It worked. Why break it?

Anyone who's even been paying the slightest bit of attention knows that the AFL/Telstra/Silverlight video streaming is a disaster and has been since day 1. I can maybe access it one day out of every ten, depending on whether the stars happen to be auspiciously aligned. Has the club not paid any attention at all to the feedback on this and similar boards regarding the AFL site? There's a REASON we preferred Bomber.tv, and it wasn't just cos of Welsh's jokes.

Very disappointing decision, EFC.

The article about Hird's comments is, verbatim, the article on AFL.com.au:thumbsdown:

The two great things about the EFC website were the independent articles and a functional Bomber.TV and now they're both gone.

I'd rather pay the $10 a year and be able to actually watch the videos.

Fuming at this decision.

Wish you had stayed out. The telstra site I one of the worst onthe net, and they're interested in one thing only: coin.
They are not there for the fans and as Whomb says I believe they will make things worse for the rest of us

Sent the following to Robson and Evans:

Mr Evans and Mr Robson,

It is with great disappointment that I feel the need to criticise an off-field decision from the club. Having been a member every year since I was 5 years old (14 years this year), it is extremely rare that I have not agreed with, or at least understood the off-field decisions made by the club.

However, this is not the case with the changes to the website. It has always been a source of great pride to me as an Essendon fan that the EFC website has always been independently run, with an independent and more importantly functional Bomber.TV section, and articles written for the EFC from an EFC perspective. No longer. The change to the BigPond software can only mean bad news for us fans. I no longer expect Bomber.TV to work when I load it - rather I feel it's a lucky occurrence when it does. I no longer find anything interesting in the articles posted. "Staff writers for essendonfc.com.au" used to mean that it was written for essendonfc.com.au, and for the Essendon fans. No longer. Compare this article by "Staff writers for essendonfc.com.au" (http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/news.asp?nid=7948) with this article on AFL.com.au by Jennifer Witham (http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/108086/default.aspx).

I've always been happy to pay the $10 a year for Bomber.TV and happy for the site to run on the proceeds from Bomber.TV. At that sort of price for members, there's no excuse not to sign up. Instead, I save my $10, but no longer have a site I feel any need to visit.

I am yet to hear of an Essendon fan who supports this decision. Rather, I, along with many others I'm sure, will no longer be visiting the website - there's no longer any need.

I hope the money BigPond is giving the club is worth it, because we no longer have a site which functions in a way which made it the best site in the league.

Regards,

You can email Robson at irobson@essendonfc.com.au

I'm trying to work out Evans' email, it's none of devans, evansd or d.evans

I suggest as many people as possible send something along those lines to the powers that be. They can't change it, but bloody hell, they need to know they ****ed up big time.
