So this week, for the first time in quite a while, they go intoa match unchanged from the previous week and face a side that could lose a 5th player from their team from just 2 weeks ago. Hard pressed not to consider Essendon's competitiveness tonight.

Based on what I saw last night I think they will struggle to win any more for the year, but you never know I suppose, Gold Coast or Brisbane games might be a faint chance.

not a chance. We started off poor and have seriously tapered off as young players and established players with limited pre seasons have all tired out. I expect most games to be 60+ point losses from here

Unfortunately the Eagles game is after the break. In an ideal world, it would have been nice to get this horror three week patch (Haw, GWS, WCE) out of the way before it, but alas...

The young players (bar Parish, it seems) were always going to tire. Same with the top ups. It is what it is.

This was a really good thread, very interesting reading not from the point of view of Essendon, but the overall quality of the league.

Essendon won't win many games but I'm not expecting them to lose by 100 each week.

They've added 4 guys who've played 100+ games and two guys in Grima and Polkinghorne who aren't far off. That's a big difference to having to play half a dozen more kids.
