Man.... it should have gone something like this:
The senior staff all stood around a table and voted for who they wanted and Tambling won.
David Noble presses a big red button by his desk.
Those who voted for Tambling plunge into shark infested waters below the `Westpac Centre.

... and most of our debt problems are subsequently for the high cost of maintaining a shark filled aquarium for such occasions.

yeah this an actual photo of the new button he has installed under his desk now

agree with all that, except that I think sando deserves to the end of next year with his team around him.

And I'd be happy with Poulos going back to the strength and conditioning role he was actually hired for, and performed well in.

Does the GM of Media Relations (Shuttleworth) report to the GM of Communications (Burtenshaw) ?
Seems to me media relations is a subset of overall communications....
(I assume both wouldn't be full time jobs)
They need 2 communication/media GM's to come up with a Monday good news story, every time we have a bad weekend.

Seriously though, you would think we only need 1 of these positions...

GM Sales and Marketing
GM Corporate services
GM Supporter Services
GM Commercial
GM Communications
GM Media Relations

Seriously they must spend all day bumping into each other in the hallway.

Sometimes you just don't have a position to match what's being offered elsewhere. you don't create a position out of thin air just to keep an employee. as they say, graveyards are full of indispensable people. before you respond that the position hasn't been created out of thin air and claim that it's a necessary role, you need to ask yourself why it only became necessary when Essendon came knocking on his door. one minute we've got everything right, a good structure and everyone's performing well, knock, knock, it's Essendon at the door. REACTIVE!!!

Have I misunderstood something? I didn't think this was a new position, but rather a new appointment in a previously-existing position.

You could argue that the appointment was reactive, I guess.

At least 4 of those positions appear to overlap - does not look like a sensible structure.

Should be determining structure first - then filling the roles, as opposed to the other way around!

Reckon AFC are spending $'s in the wrong areas - a few less GM's & more for footy ops!

we'll let's see, who was in the role heading up the footy dept prior to noble taking on the role and where has that person gone to.

Pathetic.

I don't really know. As far as the article states, Noble is doing Harper's job, but Harper is still doing the exact same job as before. This is obviously crap, so I'm not really sure what is happening.

Who was the previous appointee? Considering Phil has not been demoted?

Basically our management our incapable of sacking or demoting non-performers, which is why we have so many duplicated/similar position titles.

Imagine all the spare $'s we could have spent on the footy department - eg. decent fitness manager, getting a Bailey replacement in ASAP...

My assumption is that Phil has, of course, actually been demoted. We're just not actually reporting it because we don't want to hurt his feelings.
Agreed, perhaps once the dust has settled, so to speak, we'll find out what exactly Harper's new role is but at this point in time it certainly sounds like a demotion.
