SANFL Team: Need some advice here guys - it was 30 years ago that I last lived in Adelaide and I don't have any allegiances from then. Is it de rigeur to follow the Magpies or are there other options?

Membership/Season Tickets: Interstate member

Other Teams: There are OTHER teams? Where?

I must confess to being a bit of an NRL afficionado as I was largely brought up in Sydney. For those of you with an interest I follow the Cronulla Sharks, who have won zip in nearly 40 years. Possibly that's why it's so exciting following Port.

There are 8 other options. If you choose one of them, some people on here will not like you, some will pity you, some will have a mixture of hate and pity and the rest of us don't really care.

Hell, you don't even have to like our AFL Coach, Captain or bootstudder. The only real rule is that you have to bag Cochrane at every opportunity (sorry Powerstufff) ;) .

Capital Power, it certainly is not de rigeur to follow Port Magpies! Power needs supporters who dislike, even hate, the Crows and the Port Magpies...in fact, I'd reckon Power's future depends on it because one thing looks certain, the Magpies are never going to be the power they once were in the SANFL! Well lets hope so - go the Eagles (that terrible combo that resulted from the demise of good ol' Woodville! - yes, you do go mad if you supported the Pecker/Warriors throught the 1970s and 1980s!

I should have said in my intro -

Location - Adelaide (Eastern suburbs now, it's like being a missionary for Power out here, but fun wearing the 2004 'Premiers Cap' out and about!)

SANFL team - Woodville-West Torrens

Occupation - teach at one of the local unis

Player I most respect - Kane Cornes

Player I most dislike (this year) - sadly, our Captain, Mr Primus

Team most "hated" - Glenelg, they beat Woodville in the 1986 Prelim Final! This explains why I never liked the Crows, they looked and "smelt" like the GFC when coached by Cornes and captained by McDermott!

OK, thanks everyone. I've done some research and gone through older posts on the board for guidance and come up with what I hope is a workable position on this.

When my parents first settled in SA all those years ago we lived in Salisbury (ten pound poms!), so that means I should follow the dogs. By corollary, of course, my favourite player is therefore Stuart Cochrane. I know he's rated highly here so I hope that doesn't cause any problems. You've all been so kind and helpful so far. ;)

Favourite Premiership and why: 1994. Always hated Torrens, and loved seeing Scotty Hodges tear them a new one in the last term.
2002 Wizard Cup was special too, what I remember of it.

Hello Everyone, this is my first post so I'd thought I'd say a quick hello.
My name is Camry_Chokers, I am in my mid 20's and I love Port Adelaide.
My main interests include sports, watching sports and getting out in the social scene occassionally.
My favourite flag would have to be last years, just the euphoria of it all. All the years of securing that AFL entry, it was one big fairytale and something I thought after 1990 was out of reach for a long time. Also the 1994 flag was enjoyable, watching my favourite player Scott Hodges singlehandedly kick the Eagles to misery will be one thing I never forget.
For a living I am involved in the liquor industry, keeps me occupied.
Anyways, I hope to keep on enjoying your posts and now I am registered you can enjoy mine.

Camry_Chokers, noddy thinks you are Springchoke (a moronic Crows supporter) in the disguise of a Port supporter. Can't say I blame him actually, your names are very similar! He probably thinks you've come here to make a nuisance of yourself down the track.

Springchoke could be your ******ed cousin from the shallow end of your family's gene pool. There's no shame in that, you can't help your relatives. :p
