That's what we are all craving... the excitement of a new recruit, 18 or 19 years old, to bring his youthful enthusiasm to the team, and get us all talking about the "next big thing".

We look across at some of the other clubs, and we see Nathan Krakouer and Leroy Jetta and Mitch Brown and young fellas like these and we want to see our own young blokes out there tearing it up!

How exciting was it when Warnock debuted - we're all hanging out for Collard and Ibbotson to get a run; wondering whether Foster might get an upgrade, how young Smith will go when he hits his straps. The new breed - even guys like Kiwi and Duffman, they're not exactly teenagers, but geez it's great to see some newer faces in the team out there doing well for us.

I hope we hang onto our early draft picks this year, maybe even try and trade up a bit (not sure who we'd off-load, but just thinking "out loud"), and bring in a few exciting young fellas... There may be a few extra spots up for grabs with so many fringe players coming out of contract this year...

yeah totally agree I.P i think thats a problem at the moment that we dont have that exciting crop of players which would explain why we get frustrated when the same players make the same old mistakes over and over. a good time to offload??? but i guess there might be some retirements b4 the start of next season parker and im thinking bell might have run his race too . cook might be outed and im not sure if they might give shauny mac one more tilt if he is keen

We still have talented youngsters like Drum, Collard, Ibbo, etc. who havn't cracked it yet.

I can't wait for them to start getting regular games along with the return of Farmer and Peake.... I mean there will be enough excitement there between the 5 of them.

I just can't wait for peake to come back, think he has the speed/skills and flair to become one of the premier midfielders, it was a shame that he has had his season interupted but i noticed him say that he thinks he is now even fittter than when he did his shoulder, only a few more weeks, Browne is exciting as well and pretty fast so hopefully he will be able to break back in.

I thought the less experienced players were exciting yesterday. Campbell and Duffield slotted in very nicely.

Farmer, Browne and Peake are seriously fast footballers, and we looked a tad slow the last couple of weeks.

I had expected both Drum and Dunn to have been pushing for slots this year. I guess Dunn may have except for injury.

I am itching to see Collard play, but happy to wait until his body has the fitness. What has happened to O'brien? i expected a little more from him in terms of puing for selection.

Is Campbell elegible for the Rising Star Award?

The whole slow thing is way overrated IMO. We may be slow as far as leg soeed goes but when we are moving the ball well we are as quick as any.
Speed in AFL is how quickyl the ball moves from one guy to the next and we done that yesterday by getting it out of kick ins quick, playing on and plenty of handball.

Agree Wizard9 with the exception that still need a handful of players able to get away from their opponents with pace to create an outlet option or link man or to break the lines. Peake had that role with Freo last year and most good teams have one or two seriously quick players. It creates a spare man up the ground by the opposition players having to leave their men to go to him as they have got away from their oppponents.

The players we have lost - Farmer, Peake, Schammer and Browne are all quick and we have had instead Cook, Solly. Walker and Duffield played the role on the weekend from HF and applying defensive tackling pressure on their backs trying to run it out. Walker did a great job.

Saw Ibbotson play on the Weekend for East Freo - he is getting very close to a berth, possibly just needs a bit of work on his defensive game. That said it was a game with spare numbers back so it was hard to tell how his one on one game was really going.

Agree an acurate 50 metre pass which players like haselby, bell are capable of is a lot more effective than a 50 metre dash

While we are on the exciting youngsters, can someone tell me a bit more about Rumble? I see that he was in the WA State side this and last year at full back, but he was only a rookie listed player - Is this because he has poor decision making or something? Or is he a little older than the draft lot? It just seems weird to someone living in Adelaide who doesn't get news of the younguns.

Rumble was our mature age recruit if I remember correctly?? From what I have seen he has all the skills to step up but his size may be a bit of a problem to play full back.

He's actually young enough to be a regular rookie (under 23).

IP - we have such great depth and quality in the team. Look at the guys that are not playing at the moment. Plus our youngsters are exciting and will get their chance shortly. Cannot wait for Ibbo and Collard to get a game. Both have X factor and speed to burn.

The clubs playing stocks and coaching is in great shape.

Saw Ibbo for the first time on the weekend and was impressed. Good reader of the play and seems to be at the right place on most occasions.

With Campbell coming on fantastically, do you think we could maybe look at trading Murphy (seeing as Campbell wouldn't be worth the same) and our top pick for a top 3 pick for a top young midfielder at the end of the year. I know he's going to be great, but IF Campbell keeps him out of the forward line for the rest of the year, it would certainly be an option right? Mind you, I wouldn't want to have Murphy playing agaisnt us...

Hoogs, I think we would be wise to keep them both on the list. Pavlich has not re-signed yet, although I am sure he will. Tarrant has a long history of leg problems, as well as attitude issues. If either Murphy or Campbell were traded or left, then i think we should be recruiting another young key position forward. A little bit of a wild card in there for me is what will happen to Drum. he seems to have a really broad skill base, and perhaps can be a tall forward option if required.

But I definitely want to see us recruit good midfielders in the next draft.

This may sound silly, but I'd consider trading Campbell if he has a really good season. My logic is that Fremantle always buy high and sell low, it would be great to trade a player when their value is high for a change. It would have to be a very good deal, but I'm stil confident that Murphy will be better than Campbell.

I hear what you are saying, but having both will be a huge advantage in the next 4-6 years with Pav and Taz still around. Then after that we will need them both to fill two very big holes.

Will Campbell, Murphy and Drum all want to hang around when there is very little chance of all 3 playing together?

Foster has been told he will be elevated when his form warrants senior selection. The club has basically committed to it just need to fax the forms to the AFL when he's ready.

Think you guys might be getting alittle over the top about Campbell. I think you should wait and see how he goes against half good defenders. I think Murphy has more talent but Campbell more grunt and work ethic. Will be interesting to see this little battle between the 2 develop. There simply wont be room for both with Tarrant and Pavlich. I was very suprised you went for Tarrant with these 2 raring to go. I know WC would have backed those 2 in over Tarrant anyday of the week.
