Can't wait, is looking great. I still play 2010 so will definitely be getting this the day it comes out.

really ? i have it but could never find multiplayer on same console ?

'Split screen multiplayer IS IN for F1 2011. It’s been confirmed the game will have split screen on the same console, as was the case with the recent Codies release of Dirt3. There are no words to describe how pleased I am with this news! You’ll be able to have a championship with a buddy which is just an implosion of awesomeness'

There was online mutiplayer only. 2011 has split screen co-op, and I would assume standard split screen only.

Ahh sorry my mistake. I thought you were talking about mulitplayer (online) not split screen multiplayer.

love split screen on same console.
don't think im good enough to give it a try online!
Mate, online is where this game shines.

Last year we had a few off here playing almost nightly, and when done right, the races were bloody fun.

And even if you can't keep up with the leaders, there's still plenty of intensity racing for places back in the field.

I bought Madden 12 just the other day (in a trade in deal), probably going to trade it in with a few games for this, I loved F1 2010, especially the online part of it, but even the career mode kept me interested for a while.

Online is great when you find a good group of racers that respect actual F1 rules. I've had some intense battles, covering racing lines, getting overtaken only to get a better run out of the corner and pass them on the straight and take the inside line.

Of course there are the ********s out ignore breaking and destroy the race @ the first corner lol.

I had a real stooge the other day online, took me out on the first corner. He was very slow so i caught up to him about 4 more times, each time he'd do something mental like changing lines in the middle of a corner or brake hard way to soon when i was behind him. Then get back to the lobby and he's trying to get me kicked!

Tried a dead set replica of Mark Webber's overtake at Eau Rouge today. I was 2nd chasing first. Caught him and got along side him. Had the inside line going into Eau Rouge but he didn't yield, running straight into the side of me. I was doing barrel rolls and flips and flew into a fench before resetting my car back on track, the other guy hit the fence and landed upside down and another 1 or 2 guys behind us got caught up in it.

It just goes to show (despite it being a video game), how good the drivers have to be and how good Alonso was to realise that he should probably yield. The accident that could've been caused by it in real life is something I don't want to think about.

This comes out next week yeah?

Looking forward to it. Have become a huge F1 fan the last few years (best thing to watch when you can't sleep on a Sunday night before uni) but didn't end up buying F1 2010. Like the new added tactical dimensions of the safety car and DRS + KERS systems.

For anyone that got 2010, what's online like? Good community? (always a problem in games like Forza with people just deliberately starting crashes)

Closing Comments

Most of F1 2011’s problems only come to light when you kick over one too many rocks or you prod it too hard. Examine the environments close-up or grief the collision system by harpooning your way into clumps of competitors and, yes, the illusion will be temporarily shattered. Play it properly, however, and F1 2011 is an incredibly satisfying experience. Difficult and draining, but ultimately extremely rewarding. Few, if any, other racing games can truly match its intensity.

8.0 Presentation
Clean and crisp menus but lacking a bit of personality overall. Celebration and reaction video sequences help but they get repetitive.

8.0 Graphics
Absolutely incredible wet weather effects and great car models but still guilty of being a little drab occasionally.

9.5 Sound
There’s not a lot to the sound tapestry beyond the screaming engines and the gushing wind, but it sounds near-perfect to us.

9.5 Gameplay
Finely tuned, supremely satisfying and harder than a concrete jawbreaker.

9.0 Lasting Appeal
Play through at a decent race length and you’ll be sinking a lot of time in. Still, playing it co-op with a friend will probably be the best way to keep your enthusiasm buoyed.

OVERALL 8.5

I like this
Pit stops have also been improved. The AI mechanics now cope far better when the pit lane is busy and release you back into the race with great efficiency, instead of holding you stationary for a ludicrous amount of time after changing the tyres.

And regarding MP
Unlike last year's F1 game, the 2011 game fills the remaining spaces on the grid with AI cars so you always have 24 cars competing. In the long races in particular, this makes for satisfying competition and lots of strategic options.

I haven't read much of this thread so apologies if that had been mentioned, i think it will be a good addition.

Might get this via JB's 3-4-1, looking forward to some BF sessions :thumbsu:

I'll probably either pick this up next week or some time over the holidays. But with year 12 and exams coming up, I won't be able to get much game time in.

Can't wait. :D
