How come there is no thread for this game? Officially out on the 28th, should be able to get your hands on it on Monday at least.

To be honest I never finished 1 or 2 of this series, but take a look at NMA to see the kind of fervour these games have inspired! I am a big fan of the Fallout Tactics game, and know several of the guys who worked on that one.

Playstation publications are saying we have another case of the PS3 getting a crappy port of this hotly anticipated title:

Can I get the usual complaints out of the way now not to waste time?
We can blame the bad / lazy / stupid developers who didn’t understand the platform except that these are the guys who did so well with Oblivion on the PS3…

How about we start up the conspiracy engine and say that Microsoft has paid Bethesda to make sure that the PS3 version looks worse.. well it would have to be a lot of money to make a company gimp their own product.

No I think the reality is a little simpler than that and a lot worse for Sony, the 360 and PC development processes are very similar and as such it makes sense to lead on the PC and port to the 360 and polish it then. However porting to the PS3 is a bit more difficult and seeing that the PC and 360 markets are substantially larger than the PS3 market which version do you think the developers are going to be spend more time on?

Can Sony fix this? I honestly don’t know, it is a worry and I am hoping that with the exclusives they have they can force a market change to ensure that the games keep on coming thick and fast to both platforms.
However if you are thinking of getting Fallout 3 and have a choice it has suddenly become obvious which version you should be getting.'

Apparently the game has been pulled form India, due to 'cultural sensitivities'. Suffer Indians.

Will be getting it on PC for sure.

Its awesome how every good game that comes out on 360 can be purcahsed on PC, and is always better on PC with more features and free DLC.

Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect - all games that are infinitely better on PC than they are on 360.

Basically, between a PC and a PS3 you can get every decent game that has been released this generation. And you don't have to worry about a 75% hardware failure rate either!

As for FO3 - played the first two a little, but they were pretty dated by the time i got around to it. I'm looking forward to this title though.

So if you burn your money on a PS3, then spend another big amount on a gaming PC, you can finally play some decent games.

My brother and I bought two xboxes for the price of a PS3, or less than a PC, and have 8 player games of Halo 3 in our lounge room. It's pretty sweet, and way beyond anything you can do sitting in your study all alone. Only takes 2 minutes to set up too.

There are stacks of games that can ONLY be played on PS3, there's only like 1 game that can be played ONLY on 360 (and it sucks ass).

Except there is no need to buy a 360, all the games are on pc anyway. The PS3 actually has genuine exclusives (something the 360 doesn't), that you cna't play on any other console.

I know what you mean - I've clocked SR2 now, so I can scratch that off.

I'm in the midst of Fable 2, should be able to complete that this weekend.

Iw as playing WAR a fiar bit on PC but I'm over it now.

Then there's LBP. Looks like a game that you can just pick up and drop off whenever you feel like though.

Then I have to try the definitive version of bioshock, see if it can change my mind.

Then Fallout 3.

FALLOUT 3 LOOKS RUBBISH
Claim the predictable internet headlines, but we've played it on all three platforms - and here's the real, if less exciting, truth...

Our exclusive Fallout 3 PS3 review (from PSM3#107) has leaked onto the Internet and, as expected, a single sentence has been dragged out, beaten and interrogated under a spotlight. This one; "The PS3 version compares poorly to its Xbox and PC counterparts." Which, in the parlance of the Internet, obviously means; "THE PS3 VERSION SUCKS! XBOX WINS! ANOTHER CRAPPY PORT!" But that isn't the case. The PS3 version just looks SLIGHTLY WORSE than the other versions.

The PC version of Fallout 3 is gorgeous. The colours are vivid, the draw distance is endless, the textures are high-res and the lighting effects are beautifully subtle, especially when you're gazing over the Capital Wasteland at sunset. It's the best-looking of the three.

The Xbox 360 version's textures are noticeably rougher than on PC, and objects in the distance aren't quite as clear. It does, however, boast an impressively solid frame rate. The game is, otherwise, identical.

NOW, the PS3 version looks the same as on Xbox, but things in the distance are slightly jaggier/rougher, the textures seem 'muddier' up-close and the frame rate is choppier, especially during the last few story missions (which may be the same on Xbox, but we've not seen the equivalent scenes to comment). We won't spoil anything, but the set-pieces here are MASSIVE, and the engine quivers under the weight of what's happening.

So, really, the difference between the Xbox and PS3 versions won't hamper your enjoyment of the game in ANY WAY. High-res textures or not, it's still the same huge, epic, absorbing, brilliant adventure.

And if you're bothered by a slightly inferior frame rate and fractionally blurrier textures, then perhaps, yes, you'd best buy the Xbox version, leaving the rest of us to enjoy an almost-identical, equally brilliant, game on PS3, while you smugly inspect concrete textures at terrifyingly close range to reap the full benefit, rather than, say, losing yourself in a 100 hour epic quest in an evocative post-apocalypse. Or having fun.

It is a poorer port, what does the PS3 have to do with anything, we have all seen the power of a good port or even a PS3 lead system game and we all know what happens when devs get lazy on a PS3 port as well, but even so there are only a few draw distance textures that are a bit more jagged and rough, and it looks a 'muddier' and the framerate is a little worse, nothing else, as you have said with SR2, graphics don't really pull much weight with you in games, and this one certainly looks to be an epic and amazing game, so really you are just bullshiting us for the sake of it.

Haha, surely while typing that you realised it made absolutely no sense.

Even if games were dumbed down for the 360, which is sounds a bit fanciful, this doesn't explain why they still look worse on the apparently unbelievably powerful ps3.

Why isnt the PS3 version made to the quality of PC version if its capable of such amazing things? The quality of the apparently inferior 360 version of games is irrelevant.

Or is it that 3rd party producers can't be arsed mucking around getting things to work on the complicated ps3 seeing as it accounts for such a small percentage of sales.

And no HBK, i dont really care about graphics, and i'm sure it'll be a great game on ps3 regardless of its issues. But i'm just dumbfounded why the ps3 version is the worst of the 3 ports, when you guys keep telling us its supposed to be this worldbeating machine.

Its not really building any faith in me about the console.
