I guess they have to weigh up letting Steam take 30% vs. the development, maintenance, and running costs of their own platform. Not to mention managing the shitfest that is fickle gamers crying over minor thing. With Fallout 76 being an online only game it's probably easier to bring the launcher in-house because they'll already be throwing money at servers.
Looking at the popularity of Fortnite and WoW, which both run off their own launcher, the fact people see this is a massive issue is both amusing and sad. I'm not a fan of working with multiple launchers but it's not the end of the world.
Exactly this I think it's more just the crybabies on reddit trying to justify their decision to hate the game. The average fallout fan won't give a shit and I won't be able to hear the crying from inside my power armour helmet
