I was hoping that maybe you unlock some 'side stairs' at some point, or even those stairs that have floors attached top and bottom.

They have the metal ones with a landing at the top and bottom but that is about it

I knew this wouldn't get straight 10s from every reviewer, but I was expecting 7s and 8s. It's getting absolutely caned with 4s and has completely put me off. Is it that bad?

I'm in this camp I think

Anyone of the belief that Bethesda will actually sink some time into this and make it the game everyone wants? Trying to decide if i should buy it now, then just hold onto it for a while until it becomes better.

i don't think they can make it a game everyone wants. Either they flesh out pvp and annoy people who want a more campaign single player Fallout or go the campaign fix and kinda make the pvp redundant which goes against the point of what they are trying with this game.

they are releasing dlc, it just depends on whether they see this as a long term investment or a place filler before ES6.

If you spend most of fallout exploring and not caring about quests then it's still a good game you can relax and play.

Depends how much if any they are making from the atom shop, if the micro transactions turn a profit they should keep it going. If the money dries up they will quietly let it die

Thanks guys! I'm pretty big on exploring so don't mind that. Haven't really delved into many multiplayer games so was hoping to give this a whirl and have some fun with randoms. Tried Elder Scrolls Online but hated it, regardless of the constant DLC's, so didn't want to make the same mistake. Maybe ill wait until Christmas sales and see how it's going

The problem is they can never 'fix' the campaign the way fallout fans want it, you can't have proper dialogue options in an online game because single players can't make world changing decisions like you can in a single player fo title, if they did add dialogue options it just becomes an even more watered down version of FO4 dialogue where the options are essentially

Yes
more different yes
sarcastic yes
i want to say no but fine yes i'll do it

You do that and people complain anyway.

I have seen talk of the other vaults being end game 4 person dungeons and faction based pvp but given the server limits there aren't enough people to make pvp interesting even if everyone had a faction.

i had the chance to sink a lot more time into the game over the weekend, honestly the more i play the less i'm enjoying it. the quests are lame, the events are lame, the gun play sucks, much of the systems are a chore to deal with.

unfortunately not for me. i do look forward to the next mainline fallout game though, whenever that may come.

Possibly

There's rumours going around that this game was handled mostly by interns and prospective empoloyees, with the amount of Skyrim and Xbox 360 code left still in the game

I think if that's true there should be a fair scope for improvement if they want to bring in better staff to clean their image up or even if they want to continue to use it as a tool for developing junior/prospective staff

Yeah i saw that as well. Some guy shared a reddit post from an apparant ITK poster (has now been removed so can't give exact details) but it said it was rushed out unfinished by a bunch of amateurs. But the post also said that the Bethesda board were close to canning the Elder Scrolls single release and pushing for ESO 2 instead, so who knows if that part is legit

I like the story just the lack of payoff in some quests is dumb, you do the thing or kill the boss and it's just like cool and gives you rewards there is no follow up it feels really soulless at that point.
Yeah that’s what I mean. The story isn’t bad it’s just having to listen through holotapes and notes to get it that is the issue.

I don't even know what the 'main story' is, is it the Overseer one?

Overseer/getting access to the nukes

They do a terrible job of leading you on the overseers path, I get people finding things on their own and not hand holding you but the map is so big and it gives you zero idea of where to go while you constantly get bombarded with side quests

Meh, even with the glitches and game shutting down on me, for the under $50 I paid I've already got a lot of enjoyment with running around a Fallout map online with mates.

I was on the second storey of a house today and got attacked by a molerat burrowing through the floor. I can't honestly remember that happening in 4, but maybe it did and I've forgotten.

Yep, had a Molerat come from underneath when I was second story of a building in Charleston. Bullshit

Anyone considering getting this, do yourself a favour and get the PC version. PS4 performance is diabolical

That's not the video buffering either o_O

I'd put that down to internet connection, I'm on PS4 and haven't had anything like that

Only time I've had something like that is when an explosion off some type occurs, game really doesn't like explosions.
