It is with much sadness we advise you that mediumsizered and BigFooty have parted ways in so far as his moderating role is concerned. Without getting drawn into public commentary on how this has come about, it is fair to say that there is a fair deal of reluctance involved in this turn of events. Being a football supporter and moderating a football forum requires a great deal of passion and conviction and mediumsizered has those things in spades. About all I can say here is that sometimes passions collide.

The extremely hard part taken care of, this is the part I really want to talk about.

Some 6 years ago, when we on the Carlton board were sorely in need of some help, I and by extension BigFooty invited MSR into our fold. I noted his gift of language, his turn of phrase and his propensity for putting in place those that would unfairly target our great club. He has continued to demonstrate these attributes in his moderator role ever since.

In particular MSR was part of a push to really set the tone of the board and ensure that Carlton supporters had a place to post without being exposed to the barbs of our rivals. We have achieved this to the extent that we seldom need to infract anybody anymore due to the work put in years ago.

Please do not turn this into a slagging thread, but please feel free to show your appreciation for the effort MSR has put in over the years. He deserves nothing less. If you need to speculate, do so privately.

As far as replacements go, that is for another time and place. Admin will make the decision when the time is right.

On a personal level, I am grateful to MSR for his support and for his passion. I truly hope to see him continue to show these things on the Carlton board in the future. I will miss seeing his name in bold and knowing he is on the job. End of an era.

Crap day. Took me a while before I worked out his username was medium.size.red and not medium sizered. Always fair, funny, loyal, accurate. His (her?) biggest attribute was the historical stuff. Endlessly accurate and illuminating with facts and features from decades ago. Hope you stay around msr, you are a credit to and integral part of this place and your replacement will have more than medium size shoes to fill. My nomination - Mr X.

All I can say is that I hope that mediumsizered stays here and continues to contribute even without the moderator status. Definitely one of the most astute Carlton fanatics on BigFooty and one someone who I hold a lot of respect for. Always contributing something insightful. I can appreciate how difficult it is at times to be a moderator on a board that you are passionate about. Thanks MS.

Well this sucks. Thank you for all that you've contributed mediumsizered, like Thy I've been blown away at times with your historical knowledge.

I must say I don't understand the part of about passions colliding - I am of course not privy to anything that is said behind the scenes - but I've always found MSR to be one of if not the most grounded and sensible moderators around, from this board and especially the forum in general.
