This thread has an ulterior motive. I am looking at flights to go to Europe in the middle of next year and have found some good deals and want to know what other people's experiences have been on certain airlines.

Particularly, has anyone flown Malaysia Airlines? It's just because on the days I am looking around going their prices are $300 less than anyone else's.

Have at it GD.

Yeah I've flown with Malaysia Airlines on 3 occasions (All Return) Planes and service is what you would expect from any large airline, no complaints here except the Stewardesses are ugly just off the boat looking hookers.

Just fly any airline which suits you as you know you are going to get there.

With Malaysia, check the code share. Flew KL to Melbourne on a Malaysia plane codesharing with Air India. Not fun.

Can't go wrong with Singapore or Emirates. I've got no problem with Air NZ either, but others may disagree.

I've flown a heap of airlines. Many are on par, some are woeful, and a few are excellent. Malaysia is great. So is Singapore. Flown Qantas a few times in recent years and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Emirates is very good too.

Worst airlines I've flown are Aeroflot (back in the ol' days when you shared a parachute with a goat); Olympic was a joke; Merpati, where they give you a bloied egg and pack of clove cigarettes for breakfast was interesting.

Malaysia and Singapore are hard to go past.

Etihad have some good deals as well. Not sure what the "code share" arrangements are with Malaysia, but it looks like two standard flights into and out of KL.

Might check out the Etihad one.

Emirates is excellent
Air New Zealand is always pretty good, friendly staff from experience.
Qantas is average of late

Favourite Airline ever? Virgin Atlantic. On board gym, casino, bar, even for economy fliers. Gotta love Branson, the bloke knows a thing or two about enjoying life. Not sure if they still have all that any more though.

These days it's Singapore Airlines. Just top shelf in everything. Food, service, entertainment.

I flew Malaysia for many years when I was based in KL and they were OK. Never had any problems with them, but just not in the class of SQ. I do remember though taking a long haul flight with them back in 01 or 02 and they still had smoking seats. Not fun :thumbsd:

As with most things in life though, you get what you pay for, and airlines are no different.

Emirates and Singapore, far and away the best two airlines in the world. Both superb in all facets; food, entertainment, value and comfort.

Singapore just shades Emirates IMO.

I hear Ansett is a good airline too...

How can you have a gym in a plane?

Best

1. QANTAS
2. Thai Airways
3. Singapore Airlines

Worst

1. Jetstar
2. United Airlines
3. Tiger Airways (yes they're cheap but they are shit)

Worst airlines I have flown:

Ryanair in Europe is pretty shit because they never fly into the main airports.
Delta in America is average.
Qatar Airways is good but the airport at Doha is really annoying because the terminal is tiny and theybus you everywhere (back and forth from planes) etc. which requires walking on the tarmac in 40+ degree heat.

Best Airlines:

Hands down Air New Zealand, Emirates and most of the time Qantas.

I haven't flown with them, but I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them if the opportunity arose. On your KUL to Europe leg, try their Nasi Lemak - Malaysia's national dish, done the Malaysian way at KUL. Everyone I know that has flown with them have raved on about how good it is, so it must be good.

Not flying on them until bits stop falling off and exploding.

I think the incidents have been over exaggerated by the media. Incidents happen all the time to all airlines, yet for some reason Qantas incidents get the most attention. Yes, the uncontained engine failure out of SIN was a serious incident, but it seems every little thing that goes wrong with Qantas, even if it's just a windscreen wiper inoperable, gets blown all out of proportion by the media and linked back to the QF32 incident. Disgusting journalism, if you ask me.

On the booking site, if you click on the link that shows the flight information, it should tell you whether or not the flight is a codeshare. Depending on your final destination, your flight into Europe may be a codeshare. Just out of curiosity, where are you flying to? Obviously, MH doesn't serve every city in Europe, but if you tell me where you intend to fly to, I can check whether or not MH flies to that city with its own plane, or whether it would be a codeshare service.

Right, my favourite airline? Cathay Pacific, if for no reason other than the fact that I grew up in Hong Kong, and green is my favourite colour. Still, I've flown Cathay many times and have yet to have a serious problem with them. Some people don't like their economy class seats which don't recline, but I actually quite like that, because the person in front can't intrude on your legroom.

Flown a few different ones:

  • Thai Airlines - Very good. Price was reasonable, had lots of room and service was good.
  • Thomas Cook - Budget carrier that I flew from UK. Nice new fleet but not much service as you'd expect on a budget airline.
  • Qantas - Not bad. Had cute hostesses. No issues and found their food and entertainment system to be better than some.
  • United Airlines - Staff were friendly but not very attentive. Prices can be a little high and I've had some rough landings with them so I don't overly recommend.
  • Air Pacific - Really liked them. Very friendly, ok food, decent fleet and can get good deals.
  • Air Canada - Old fleet, old hosts and you can usually find cheaper options. Probably will only fly domestic from now on.
  • VAustralia - Probably my favourite so far. Only flew them once but their planes are brand new with lots of room, big windows and good entertainment system. Also cheap.

I will be flying into Frankfurt, Germany. From the flight descriptions I have looked at, it would seem they fly straight from KL with their own planes. No sharing, but I could be mistaken.

Only ever been domestic, but I prefer Virgin just for the fact they operate a lot of Embraer flights to and from Adelaide. Bigger seats, lots of legroom on those aircraft.

Though I normally end up on Jetstar as they do cheap flights to the GC, and apart from their hitler-like baggage policies they're not bad.

Qantas is ok, but they've gone downhill, and I refuse to fly Tiger for a host of reasons.

Virgin- i just love the hostess uniforms. tight beige pants and a white blouse that is generally a size too small that buttons are straining across her boooobbbiiiieeeesssss. :thumbsu::thumbsu: most are hot too

I have flown internationally with Qantas, Singapore, Emirates and Pacific Blue. All are good enough to go with again. I'm not that picky so I can't really split them? Even Jetstar isn't too bad internationally (if you pay for the extras).
