This doesn't seem to have been done for a while plus we've drafted some new talent and we've had a chance to see some new players....

So, who is your favourite player at the club? And, why?

Get the feeling this may be a landslide for no. 3

Dont think I can pick one, never have been able too, even going back to when i first got into footy in the 1990s.

I have a few favourites:

Kouta, O'hAilpin, Murphy, Fevola, Waite, Walker, Betts, Simpson.

Of the new kids on the block, i have a standout favourite and that is easily Cameron Cloke. :thumbsu:

i'd have to say Murphs. i saw him play live for the first time in launceston and well WOW :) . his skill and balance, plus the flick of the hips to evade a tackle, lets face it the kids a champion in the making if not already.

kouta is my sentimental favourite, but this year murphs is the man.

Do you think he looks to be a good longterm prospect Gilly?

Mate, I wish i had some video footage from last Sunday, some people on here would be blowing thier loads.

(That's a Yes :thumbsu: :thumbsu: )

Having said that the opposition wasn't much chop, so will be interesting to see how he goes this Sunday against the Geelong reserves.

This is a guy who at 202cm was playing at FF, leading with the pace and athleticism of a Lloyd or Richo ... taking marks on the lead by getting 2m on his defender, or by usinig superior judgement and height to outposition his opponent (will be even harder to match up on when he bulks up). Then move into the ruck and use his height and scary veritcal leap to get his hands first to the ball at every contest (needs to direct the ball with more intent, but this will come). Then around the ground, goes for a run down the wing, and when confronted by two defenders, stops, sells the dummy to one and then squeezes a kick between the two to a teammate at advantage.

He does this with ease and without looking ungainly or uncoordinated as many kids of his height do. Without a doubt in my mind he was the second best ruck prospect in last years draft by a fair margin. He might even just nudge out Leuey in terms of versatility, now that is a big call. :o

You've got me picturing a taller, faster and springier Jeff White. How are his foot/handskills and decision making?

got to be murph.......

besides the fact that he is an absolute star on the park he's a great bloke off the field too

setanta a close second...

He is certainly athletic like Jeff, and of course is a bit taller. Don't get me wrong he is still very skinny and raw, but a heck of a lot to work with.

I thought his kicking action looked fine, although he missed his first shot for goal by quite a margin (was 40m out an an acute angle IIRC). Had another shot from the boundary line where he was looking to give off, but had no options present and didn't miss by much in the end. His hand and foot skills in general play looked pretty good for a big man. Again I will pay more attention to Shaun next week as I was mainly focusing on Grigga last weekend.

waite's been my favourite for a few years, however, it hurts to say that murph is rising quite rapidly. in all sports, i always try and make my favourite player one of the underrated ones, nto one of the superstars which everybody loves. but i cant help it, murhpy is just too damn good!!

You just can't help but like the guy. He really seems to be well respected by the wider football following community.
I would have voted Murph - great player who always give 110% and seems like a great kid, there is nothing arrogant about him, but I love the X-Factor Walker seems to ooze.....

Kouta, my 2nd fave ever after SOS, from next year though it will be Murph
sos was my idol.
which is way through juniors ive always played as a FB, CHB, 3rd Tall B.
Lately through murphs style added a bit more run and hardness to my game.

Rotating HBF, HFF and Mid.

I want CHB this year :)

SOS and Murph 4evaa babyy

Big Fev is my favourite - ability to turn it on and turn a game is second to none. This combined with the mongrel in him, stands up for all the youngsters when they get hit, gets a crowd pumped, long range radar, backs Carlton to the hill on TV (big Lance especially), speaks his mind, controversial, etc. I could go on......

I'm much the same. Loved Waite from the first time I saw him play in a practice match against the Tigers in 2002, but Murph is edging closer with every game and every interview. This boy's got a head on his shoulders.

Got an eye on Blackwell as well.

Would have picked fevola , but murphy is really growing on me , the more and more i watch of this kid the more and more i like him .. he is a superstar ! but still love fev !

Walker - was our earliest draft pick at the time and brought hope with him to the club. Has been my favourite player for the last couple years despite not living up to his potential (yet:D ).

Next comes the Fev - the most exciting player on list, no one better to watch when at his best.

And third - young Murphy, honestly I can't help smile when I watch him play. We are watching a champion in the making:thumbsu: .
