The unnecessary angst is coming from the people crying sexism over that issue. It's a nothing story about some kids who want to change their school dress code but it's shared around with "you go, girl" sentiments and gets recognition as some kind of noble feminist cause. If the words immodest and provocative are sexist now, then flying spaghetti monster help us all.
Exactly. In no way did I say that the words are the same, but to suggest that there is some gendered issue behind them, while being provided examples of those words applying to men is ludicrous. There is a few posters here who go out of there way to search for sexism that isn't there

This thread is getting quite amusing but I would be interested if you could give some examples of males where the words immodest and provocative in relation to what they are wearing so that I can see the difference.

My school would send males home for having tears in clothing, swearing or offensive things on clothing

I think my place of employment is sexist. Women are allowed to wear skirts and dresses, but guys can't wear shorts. It's obvious that it's a sexist policy because men can't show skin

Neither examples you posted would be considered provocative nor immodest.

Kids go to school (that don't have a uniform policy) with tears in jeans and tees all the time, it is fashionable.

Try again.

Do you understand what provocative means? You know it has multiple meanings, yes?

Try understanding the word before being condescending.

As I said my schools policy used that exact wording. And sent home students for the above reasons.

Ho ho ho has the silly season arrived or what lads. Bunch of sooky lalas.
Just means your victim complex precludes any chance of a sensible discussion.
Happy hols you bunch of looney tunes. (Flea, Ill, Dem and Flowers;))

How is any of this a victim complex? saying it happens to both sides and the words apply to all. That would be the opposite of a victim complex.

romeohwho is usually a bit better than that, but not enough better that I'm bothered if he doesn't want to talk to me anymore.

Will break it down for you:
Simple Definition of provocative
causing discussion, thought, argument, etc.
causing sexual feelings or excitement

Simple Definition of immodest
having or showing a high or too high opinion of yourself or your worth
of clothing : showing a lot of your body in a way that is considered improper

Actually it's causing anger or other strong reaction, particularly deliberately. But now I see. You change the meaning of words to fit your side of the argument, instead of the actual meaning
Let's face it. You won't change your opinion. Regardless what is presented, you've just shown that. Typical.

And? Who should get to decide the appropriate standard? The school, or some 14 year-old mattress-back who think her shit doesn't stink?

I am just playing this game and would like to see examples of males being described as wearing provocative and immodest clothing...
What is your problem?

Stringer singlets. Definitely considered immodest outside a gym.

I'll take Oxford thanks
Still clearly applies to what I was saying. But I guess you won't accept it. Since you can't be wrong.

Not sure that it would be much different but fell free to post both definitions.

I have no such examples, and I will not be seeking any on your behalf.

I have no problem, teenage girls being obnoxious little turds is hardly a new thing.

I just posted the applicable Oxford one. Do you actually read the posts responding to you? Or just auto outrage?
How's that grasping at straws? Won't get into most venues in them, they're not exactly public arena appropriate, can't wear them at any workplace. But again you're right. There are no examples because you refuse to acknowledge those given to you
Not wasting any more time on individuals with absolutely no debating skills what-so-ever

Thanks, got nothing as expected but do go on...
What a man, sigh.

Silly, you have no idea what outrage is, maybe look that up too?
Exactly my thoughts, bye.
