You guys have got yourselves more wound up more than the dreaded femos about this.

Unfortunately yes. This is the only avenue to discuss these issues though. As logical discussion against feminism on sites like Facebook lead to a man being labelled as sexist, misogynistic etc.

As i said in the last paragraph, the inccorect assertions are hateful because they criticise the actions of men based on illogical conclusions.

Those experiences are unfortunate for you and I sympathise.

Interestingly i've had similar experiences. But i think my personality is one of dealing with it internally rather than externally. (Im the type of person who doesnt send the food back when there's a hair in it, that's the way the dice roll, i lost that one) Some people have different personality styles though.

The crux of that issue is that everyone is different and if you start appeasing the lowest commok denominator, you destroy an important part of human life. (I.e treating a work place like a cyborg factory is the safest, but the cost outweighs the benefit)

It should be noted I also dont generally subscribe to the notion that men are the powerful force in sexual interactions. The woman has the power from start to finish. Positions of power such as superiors, and obviously phsyical sexual assault are examples when men may have an upperhand but generally, as a young person, it's the girls that have all the power (but maybe that's because i'm not one to exploit a women).

But who is the lowest common denominator and if there is one, do we exclude them?

Not sure of your statement that women have the power either and not sure how you can make that statement as a male, further I would think that whether it is a male or female, employee boss if you are not strong enough, you give that other person that power by allowing it.

Well no. As I said I have the opinions of the two women I'm closest with. They both find the issue a joke. Not really sure how you can claim that's not listening. Or are you saying their views are wrong?

Every woman I've discussed it with in person and the majority of the female friends I have on facebook think it's completely ridiculous. He made himself look silly, she handled herself professionally, he apologised and that should have been the end of it. Seems like another great example of extreme feminism dominating the media with views that are not representative of the overwhelming majority of women.

I've also noticed the majority of Facebook comments have been men. At one extreme or the other. One claimed "men have never been sexually harassed" I said that's false and was called a misogynist

It says although you might be a professional, what you really are is a female to be discussed in sexual manner when and if the man sees fit.
I'm not sure why that's so difficult to get?

That is just absurd. It's difficult to get because no rational person actually thinks like that, no matter how much the radicals like to think otherwise.

My thoughts when first viewing this incident:
1) This is really awkward.
2) He's made himself look a right dick, not that he'll care.
3) There will be a shit storm.

As a keen A League viewer I've seen a lot of Mel's telecasts over the years and think very highly of her professionalism, passion and knowledge of the game and I've seen her conduct hundreds of similar one on one interviews with Soccer players without a hitch. What I saw here in this interview does nothing to challenge my opinion of her quality as a journalist, nor does it only just dawn on me suddenly that she is also an attractive woman in addition to being an excellent journalist. The thing that did stand out for me was just how awkward it was, I'd heard Gayle was supposed to be a legendary womanizer but this was just cringeworthy and was delivered so awkwardly.

At the end of the day Gayle's comments were unprofessional and it was very unfair of him to spring that on Mel in front of a live audience but FMD the carry on about this has become ridiculous.

You think it's ridiculous that incident has shed what is alleged to be multiple instances of said individual behaving in a similar matter?

You think it's ridiculous that multiple other female journalists and presenters have come out and explained similar circumstances on which they were harassed, embarrassed, or belittled in the workplace?

People who bury their heads in the sand and claim this as a one off, insignificant, and as not having broader implications of social norms and attitudes, are what's really concerning.

Watched the Gayle-McLaughlin interview live and thought it was pretty seedy. Felt the initial reaction in Cricket Australia condemning the actions and subsequent match fine was appropriate.

Everything thereafter - the public shaming and lynch mobbing, the hashtag campaigns, the lawyers and the damnations from public figure's and authorities is a bunch of dribble.

I'm not in any camp. I'm trying to walk the middle path and look at the issue objectively. Will I fail? Probably - I'm subject to bias and other lopsided perceptions like everybody else, and I don't have a doctorate in Social Research.

A woman at my work refers to every male co-worker as 'darling' (save for the big bosses).

Pretty sure this adds nothing to the conversation, but it's getting on my nerves. You can't have the same pet name for everyone or there's no point. Although, would I really want her to call everyone else darling and me 'ShanDog'? Would seem like I am being excluded. I just want to be liked.

Yeah, my wife works in a male dominated field and gets hit on by her clients all the time. She just tells them she is married and not interested, accepts the ego boost and moves on. She doesn't work on live TV though, so that might make some difference.
