A HAWTHORN fan who attacked trouble-plagued Carlton star Brendan Fevola has escaped punishment after an AFL probe into the incident proved inconclusive.
Fevola suffered a blow to the back of the head during the last quarter of the Blues' NAB Cup semi-final win against Hawthorn last week.
He believed the blow came from a flogger belonging to a member of the Hawks' cheer squad.
The AFL investigated, but could not trace the offender because the incident was not caught on camera.
"Fev' had raised it (the complaint) with a ground manager, but we're not able to do anything," AFL spokesman Patrick Keane said.
"We checked all the vision from the day's game, we checked the ground cameras too, but we couldn't find anything."
The Blues spearhead said he was shocked by the incident, which he said left him with a lump on his head.
The incident strains the already testy relationship between Fevola and spectators.
