I've gone on record as saying over my dead body blah blah blah, i listened to an ABC interview of the man last weekend and couldn't help but be impressed (he was more impressive than the TFS interview tonight).

Consider this Pie fans, 2012, we're either back to back premiers or chokers, if we go back to back we all know 3 peating will be near impossible, if we're chokers we will be after an edge, would Fevola be of interest, keeping in mind Flags are everything, what do we do? we can impose our own sanctions on the guy, we can make him train with our VFL team for instance, we can put an alcohol free/ no tolerance not as a clause in a contract, but we can say if you go near the piss you will not be selected, EVER, so that will get around the AFLPA contract guidelines, has to be worth looking at IMO, first sign of trouble and he's out, more upside than downside surely, and, we're a charitable club, we help a brother out, not because we have to but because we can.

If Hall and Cousins got a second chance, so should Fev. Having said that, if I was in the position to look at him, I wouldn't.

Where would we play him anyway, would we cease the development of Dawes for him? Dawes has been giving me the shits of late but I still don't like that idea.

What if for some reason we can't re-sign Dawes? Cloke needs a big bodied forward with him to perform well.

Currently I'm thinking NO. But if a space opens up and he comes for nothing, will cost nothing, frees up more $$ and with player list movements could help us jag a very good young player. Maybe even Jaeger?

See, theoretically I would, if we didn't have a cap on the players we were allowed on our roster.

Assuming he would start on a base wage, it wouldn't impact the salary cap, but I just think that he isn't worth taking a spot off someone when we're already a developed team who are in the zone for winning premierships.

We aren't really missing a piece of the puzzle. We have a decent ruckman, we have a good forward setup, a great midfield and a backline that works well.

With Brown to come back next year, I just think the main thing we can do now is focus on maintaining a list that is capable of sustainable success whilst nurturing and giving experience to the younger players to carry us into the future.

Regardless of what he's done off-field and the ramifications of bringing Fevola to Collingwood, I just don't think we're in the market for a 30-year old player period.

The reason why Fev's an anomaly here is that he's potentially the best forward in the competition, he's FREE and he'd be more than willing to play for the Pies. It's so bizarre, you can't help but think about it.

Would I take him for free? I know many (most) would say no, I'd say yes. But given he'd be taking a spot off our list (which is down by 1 with GC and GWS joining I believe) it's just not worth it.

One or two for an alcoholic (assuming Fev is) is dynamite. In situations of addiction it is usually give up or have a massive chance of falling back into that old addiction. Maybe he's in that 15% (I think it is, certainly not higher than that) minority that can get back to social drinking. That comment rings alarm bells.
