and in my original post i never mentioned anything besides pes 13's demo.

but if you must know (i assume anything past this point will be dismissed as not knowing anything about football and the tactical intricacies of the sport.)

- off the ball is incredibly fiddly, and remains just as ordinary in the demo
- gameplay is way too focussed on attack
- if fifa has scripting, then pes just as much as matched it with 12
- ball dynamics are terrible, feels weightless and like you're pinging a rubber along the ground between players
- every player dribbles like a demigod
- opposition ai is ridiculous.

fifa has a much superior physics system, the introduction of the collision system, while annoying, is something to improve on. the tactical defending is a great addition, if a player can't defend then they will get torn apart. at this point in time, pes has absolutely nothing on fifa, and their latest sluggish, slow and plain demo for the next game does absolutely nothing to change my opinion on the series.

On most of these we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't understand how a physics system with absolutely no concept of momentum can be considered far superior to anything, but rather that that's what you're used to, and thereby anything else feels weird. Likewise saying opposition AI is ridiculous, I cannot believe that anyone could consider FIFA's AI better than anything.

The lack of licencing and poor animations scares the shit out of most FIFA fans. But at least it seems like you've tried PES enough to form an opinion on it, which is valid regardless of whether I disagree with it. I wish more diehard FIFA fans would give it a go, because I think it would force EA to make a better game.

lol nice constructive posting, making stupid assumptions that has nothing to do with my post.

if you think that the last few pes games have been better than fifa since fifa 10 then i really do feel for you.

I dont get into the debates of fifa v pes as it really just comes down to preference...it is just a game. I personally like Fifa, and dont care what others prefer

FIFA for me just feels more like a complete game.

I still can't get over how shitty the PES UI has been for the last 10 years and that they just don't want to update it, ever! It's extremely unintuitive and confusing for a first time user and I'm flabbergasted they just don't seem to want to streamline it at all.

While FIFA doesn't have the greatest AI going around, it's still pretty damn tough to play against and I am always finding myself challenged. Nothing in the PES demo is really screaming out incredible AI to me either, I've seen just as many dumb things in PES with their AI as I have with FIFA. They make offensive runs better sure, but surely that's not all there is to it to say PES AI>FIFA AI?

I agree with NGF on most of his other points too, I don't like how the ball floats about the pitch in PES. Ball physics are a huge thing in a game where you're kicking that thing around for 100% of the game, and PES just doesn't do it right. Corners are clunky, free kicks are clunky and shooting imo is clunky too because of this reason (why are all the shots hitting the bar?!! 8 shots in the one game hit the bar, from both sides...massive WTF).

FIFA also has the copious amount of modes that are generally on a very high level. Maybe save for the Be-A-Pro, but Pro Clubs is very fun. It just means that there's far more variety that I can jump through if I'm feeling like something different, or just go the traditional manager mode if need be.

You can also say what you want about animations and graphics not having a huge affect on the game, but they can often be the difference between one piece of clunk in a game to another. Player control is really stiff and clunky due to the animation. I'm also getting incredible slowdown in framerate on the PES 2013 demo, don't know if that's something just due to it being a demo version, but it's horrible to look at and instantly off-putting.

Every year I play the PES demo and every year I'm still left unimpressed and with a number of issues that just don't work. And I just get that feeling of overall clunk, as I've mentioned with various things.

I'm not a huge fan of where FIFA has headed since the best FIFA of all time imo in FIFA 2010 World Cup, it's gotten a lot slower and just in general the variety of attacking options are becoming far too set to similar paths. But overall FIFA does way more that impresses me than PES does.

what are peoples plans for manager mode?

Which club/s will you manage?
Which international team will you try and manage?
What players will be your cash makers early in the Transfer market?
Which players will you target to buy?

I always have the same game plan and route for every manager mode.

Usually it's a club in the Championship or League One with a cool shirt. I always have a bit cleanout when I arrive, and I prefer to work with a smaller squad, despite the issues it can bring up. I'm just happy to take a random, small country to the World Cup.

Really excited about all this as well.

I plan on 2 saves.

Liverpool, with the view to try and get the Uruguay manager job. Players on the chopping box for quick extra cash are cole, downing, and carroll (no surprises)...and maybe Reina and TF in a young keeper to build up early. Players in going after first are Jordie Alba, and german young gun, Eriksson, and Cavani. Will likely start on legendary mode

2nd, I build up save with a crappy team. Unless the A-league gets the asian cup I will likely give it a miss to start with, so it will be back to building up the Bantams (Bradford) from league to and take them all the way to the premier league. I hear their financial situation is alot better this year so hopefully fifa 13 gives them extra transfer cash to play with. Players I hoping to buy in...Stirling if his value is achievable, any Aussie youngster because they will be cheap, and any youngster with extreme pace as I think it is key to make up for lack of skills when you are chasing tail all day in the cups against top teams, and senegals kouyate who has been a feature in my bottom teams of the past few years (poor mans essien). Hopefully I can land the Australia international job

Save 1 - Galatasaray as they're my favorite team.
Save 2 - Liverpool as they're my second favorite team.
Save 3 - Try and get the worst team from the lowest English division to the EPL and champions league.

I generally just pick the worst team in the lowest league in England and go from there.

Gibbsy why you no add me on PSN?

Forgot tbh. Had to reconnect my PS3 last night as I took it around to a mate's place and it took ages to set back up. Played a fair bit of London 2012 last night, bought the last copy in Geelong - awesome game.

One with Everton, one with Arsenal and one with Leeds normally.

And I feel like my ranting over the last day or so has made me out to be some sort of FIFA hater. I've put more hours of my life into FIFA games than pretty much anything else. I even got 5 seasons deep with Everton and won the PL with Leeds on FIFA12, flaws and all.

Fair enough.

I find it impossible to play career mode on FIFA these days...just takes way too long with loading times etc. Played about 10 seasons on legendary with FIFA 07 back on Xbox 1, I think I played maybe 5 games offline max on FIFA 12... probably about 500 online matches haha

H2H seasons ftw

I wish Luton Town would re-enter the game.:(

I downloaded the Blue Square Premier from Creation Centre (bought the full add-on this year for 10 bucks).... they are sorta fun to play with. I might even try playing with a team in the Blue Square Prem next season in career mode. :)

Didn't know you could.

Didn't know you could.

Hopefully it's improved for next year... the creation of teams was really buggy but I made some cool squads of created players (Victory 2006-07 squad, 2010 WC all-stars, even the Japan national team)

i'd manage city first just to get the feel for things, then for a more serious one probably west ham, reading or granada. international will definitely be belgium, so much talent. cash makers, i basically pick the young guns i find in fm and use them in fifa, so probably guys from norway/sweden/denmark like per usual. and brazil of course
