What team Bok? Was managing South Africa for a while and never had any WC Qualifiers, so resgined and joined Argentina and guess who was at the World Cup South Africa so it might be that some nations are automatic inclusions because the region doesn't have enough teams to do a proper WC Qualifiying, think only Cameroon, Ivory Coast and South Africa are apart of the African qualifiying so not enough teams same with the USA I suppose as they aren't apart of the South American qualifiying so they are automatic to represent the region.

Well that might explain a lot! I am the United States. I mean I get good friendlies against Germany, Australia, Mexico, etc. but when you are trying to play as a league club aswell, a friendly is the last thing you want to play.

Thanks for that!

You can go and see your schedule in calendar whilst in the international 'area'. I've just signed with Ireland and they have group qualifying.

I checked and it only had friendlies and nothing else. I don't think they had anything scheduled ahead more than a year.

Getting royally shitted off with this game.

Had to restart from the FA Cup semi. I conceded a 90th minute equaliser, then managed to beat Swansea in the second period of extra time. 2-1 and a Final against Chelsea. I rested some players as I had a Play-off and potentially a play-off final... Went 1-0 down, got a decent CB sent off, conceded another, so I chucked on some young blokes. Lost that 4-0.

So second leg of my Play-off final. The first was a 1-1 against the Tractor Boys' biggest rival – Norwich. It's at Carrow Road, so I go to play... yeah.. invisible ball. Going to replay the tie and hopefully progress to the Premier League. Wish me luck.

Haven't had the invisible ball glitch yet.

Just played a game where the good news was that scores were level for 85 mins of the game, bad news I lost 3-0.

Patch is out.
I had to download some PS Store update. And then PS home. And this whole thing is driving me absolutely insane.

Whatever, I got Tooooone into the Prem. Shane Long, 77 overall and 27 years of age, ended the season with 8 assists and 20 goals – player of the season. He was worth £3 mil, but I asked £9.5 from Man City, and they obviously paid up.

International management is awfully boring.

Anybody know if you need to start a new career to stop it freezing? As my Arsenal game is still freezing just after the world cup. Or did the patch not address this freezing which ive worked out to be players replying to contract offers.

Ended up finishing 18th in my first season with Brighton, they weren't easy to play with but some youngsters who were at the club when I joined (Buckley, Forster-Caskey etc) are progressing along nicely and are great fun to play with. My huge find in the transfer market was Marquinhos Gabriel, 74 rated Brazilian with loads of pace who scored 11 goals and made 6 assists in 19 games for me. Class player. Forster-Caskey also scored 10 goals in 16 games which was great from a young 22-y.o. rated only 65.

I decided to check out how Sydney FC went without me, well they dominated. They finished top of the league by 25 points! Their goal difference was +60 which is just insane, next closest was +17. Wish I could see more detailed stats but I reckon after I get Brighton promoted I might just move back to Sydney to close out my managerial career :)

My big player turnover is almost complete with Brighton and I can't wait to get stuck into another season of the Championship and hopefully get the boys promoted. The board will be supposedly content with a mid-table finish but I want to at least fight for promotion. At the end of last season I had about 7 or 8 players aged 30 or over, 6 of them retired and were replaced with new youth squad members.

I had to shore up my defence and I'm still a bit light-on centre halfs but the team is looking pretty boss-like for now. Free agents - a god-send. I signed four FA's, with a total value of over 20 million pounds. AND they're all under 21 years of age! Will be able to sell them on for a fair bit next season and can use that money to build a strong side for the Prem (hopefully).

Current team before my first game of the season:

Szumski (63)
Rose (77) - Milanovic (72) - Dunk (77) - Gama de Oliveira (76)
Bridcutt (72)
LuaLua (73) - Lopez Cabrera (75)
Buckley (74) - Marquinhos Gabriel (75) - Perez Soto (74)
Subs: Brezovan (56), Wynne (66), Aktaou (67), Forster-Caskey (67), Vincelot (65), Ortiz Ruiz (65), Agdestein (67)

Really it looks like my only weakness is in goal but Szumski has been quailty, he's progressed from about a 57 so he's coming along nicely. Lindsay Rose is a really fast, strong and versatile French player who was my first signing of the window, 3 million pounds I think, starts out as a 20-year-old when you first start career mode IIRC. Milanovic and Gama de Oliveira are re-gens, the former just a solid centre-half, the latter a pace merchant. Dunk is really strongly built and being at the club from the start I really love playing him, he's injury-prone though. Bridcutt is class, also been there from the start and has progressed along really well. Loves to push forward from his CDM position too.

LuaLua is quick but extremely injury-prone, may look to move him on in the January window. Cabrera is a pacey re-gen (I swear they are all pacey!!), haven't had a chance to play with him yet, same goes for the rest of the new signings. Buckley has been there from day dot and is still increasing I believe, quick set of heels and finds the back of the net fairly often. Marquinhos Gabriel was a god for me last season, scored a nice hat-trick in the latter half of the year and hopefully can replicate his form this season. Perez Soto yet another re-gen. Of the subs, Brezovan is old and on the way out, Aktaou I signed last January but has been replaced by Oliveira, Forster-Caskey is superb (10 goals last year) and still only young so will be a super sub, Vincelot is old and not that great, Ortiz Ruiz is a young striker and Agdestein is a 25-y.o. back up striker.

Apologies for the essay, you lot. You all know how much I love career mode. :thumbsu:

you mainly simming gibbsy or playing all the games??

Probably about 50-50 mate. Sim the games against lower teams, play anyone mid-table or above. Will play probably every game this season though now I have a settled team. I generally only sim once I know where I'm going to finish, happened with Sydney when I just simmed the last 10 or so games of Seasons 2 and 3 as I was out by so much.

I just bought one of those financial take-overs from the EA football store for my career mode. Never gonna do that against. I got about 50 mil from it! Would rather earn my good players.

Man I'm having so much fun with manager mode - my first since FIFA '07 where I've actually bothered to do it properly.

2012/13 season - Started off Melb Victory. Simmed most of the game, made it to the finals and lost in the semis - pretty boring season except I bought some free agent re-gen freak called Tiribocchi - his stats were absolutely insane, rated about 70 but grew to 80 by the end of the season. Sold him to Bayern for about 28 million

2013/14 season - Once again with Melb Victory, although made some more big free agent signings over the break and had a team good enough to dominate the A-league - think I almost went undefeated, losing 1 game. Nearly slipped up in the semi-final again, scraping through on penalties but went on to win the A-league 4-0.

2014/15 season - Still with Melb Victory but once I realised there was no asian cup to play in I got bored very quickly - applied for Chesterfield in nPower 2 and got the job  Man they were terrible - as I applied after the main transfer period I didn't have much of a chance to change the team around too much - once the January transfer period came I brought in about 3 or 4 free agents who were instant walk up starts to my team. Had a great run at the end, winning probably my lst 10 games and managed to clinch the title in the last round by a point. So promoted to league 1.

2015/2016 - I went nuts in the transfer period here - sold pretty much every single player I had, and brought in a team full of free agents - all rated between 65-70, and all <20 years old. This is such a good strategy if you have a shithouse team - there are some absolute gems in free agency - most of my players grew by about 5+ this season and I had a team that was good enough to dominate league 1, ended up finishing second and getting promoted to the Championship - highlight of the season was probably coming from 3 goals down against Man City in the FA cup to get a draw in the 90th - ended up getting smashed in the replay but it was still a good achievement for a league 1 team :p

2017/2017 - currently sitting about 4th on the table, 25 games in. My team is now rated 4 stars - have a few players pushing the 80s overall (the same players I bought in free agency who were <70). Sold one guy, who must've been a regen as he had 98+pace and acceleration to Chelsea for 30 mil. Hopefully I can make it to the EPL - overall goal is to bring Chesterfield to become champions of Europe.

Moral of the story is its so much fun rebuilding a shit team. Can't believe I didn't touch manager mode in '12

I'm sure this has been posted before but I hadn't seen it before and got a good chuckle out of it, anyway...

Yeah, you should finish a spot or two outside the play-offs, at the very least. If the guts of your team sits in the mid-70s, you'll be okay. I had something similar and managed to win a vast majority of the games I simmed (including accidental ones against the teams above me).

Free agency is becoming a little too easy, I reckon. They should give player growth a lot less predictability, so a kid sitting on a 70 OVR at 18 could only ever reach a 72 in his prime. It'd add some depth to the game. At the moment, you can buy any decent young kid and sell them three years later for £10 mil.

Best career with Bradford, English league 2

Started with the typical player clean out, except keeping:
1) Darby (RB) who is a ex liverpool youngster. Should have good growth.
2) Hines & Wells...kept until mid season where I played both into excellent form and both lvl'd up 4-5 in that time. Hines I had a huge bidding war with up to 10 top clubs and got 4.5 million for from Villa, and Wells I got 1.8 millions. Awesome awesome money for a league 2 team.

Traded in:
1) 18 yr old Piazon (lvl 61-LW) from Chelsea for 400k, who has grown 5 lvl's and now worth 2m+
2) Suso from liverpool. Got him for 700k and is now worth 2m+
3) 20yr CF Boniperti from Empoli. high growth, and is worth 2.5m+
4) 17yr ST Benzia from Lyon...best young player. paid about 2 m for him though.
5) RM Redmond from Birmingham...absolute great get from my team. Should have high growth. Paid only 1.4m but was worth 2m+ at the time. Big win

sign a couple other young players in Fraser, (mid), Goretzka (mid), Cragno (GK), Shaw (Southampton LB) all on the real cheap and each have shown good growth.

Missed out on sterling though...had the cash but he aint dropping down the leagues. Getting redmond though made up for it.

Winning the league, did alright in the cups...Just need to get some quality CB's in season 2.
