Couple of things happening in career mode lately that have been pissing me off and I'm sure carry through all game modes.

1) Corners seem a lot harder than FIFA 12. No longer whipping it into the middle of the box do your players stand a chance, defenders almost always win out, I think I've scored 3 corners so far from over 50 attempts and they were only on wide swinging balls with glancing headers.

2) Double-saves are way overpowered, it's terrible. Some of that shit wouldnt happen in real life. Barely ever seems to occur when it's my goalie although even when it does I cringe as the CPU probably deserved a goal. Has burned me many times with crazy second stops and clearances off the goal-line. On that note, shot blocking seems a lot more prevalent this year. Defenders just seem to get in the way a lot more.

Finally I do think scripting is still in FIFA 13 somewhere, despite what EA say. Career mode game, 0-0 at 90 minutes, CPU team hit the crossbar as the 3 mins of added time sign comes up. I take it all the way down my end and score with Del Piero, the man the legend, "it's over" I think. 1-0 up. They push it from kick-off up to the top wing, ball goes out for a throw, surely 3 mins is up. NOPE Fergie time is in action and i'm playing against Brisbane Roar!! They got a dodgy free kick, dribbled seamlessly through my defence who acted like statues and scored a goal which deflected off the keeper. I had to laugh but it was pretty dodgy imo. Game finished 1-1 almost immediately.

Corners I've just started getting the hang of. It seems you're allowed to get it a bit closer to goal than before where the keeper would come out. I never put any curve on my corners, just straight to the edge of the 6-yard box and I'll have a chance.

And yeah the amount of goals that are scored in 90+ minutes seems to be really high.

Btw is anyone else finding the difficulties a bit easier in career mode? Throughout FIFA 12 I was playing on World Class the entire time, and was struggling for consistency with teams even like Real Madrid. I'm now playing as Southampton in FIFA 13 on World Class and despite a pretty average squad and no huge new signings, I'm 9th after 16 games, with 5 wins 1 draw in my last 6 games (and this includes beating Newcastle (2-1), Liverpool (5-4) and an unbeaten Chelsea (3-0)).

Yeah corners were annoying at the start, but it is more realistic IMO. IRL teams don't score from a corner that often, and when they do it's usually a pretty perfect cross and header. Scored a cracker with Adebayor earlier. In saying that though, if it's towards the end and I need a goal I'll often go short because of the lack of faith.

Also, hit the post 4 times in the Man U v Spurs challenge before. By the end I was just laughing.

That just sounds like a regular Brisbane Roar game tbh.

funny you say that, i started career mode with man city and i'm struggling in world class, lost to huddersfield 3-0 ffs. but started one with shrewsbury (chose a lower team to start with to try and make it more realistic) and i'm top of the league and progressing through the fa cup draw with ease

Ask and you shall receive.

that could've been funny, but seemed overly rushed, didn't even crack a smile :(

No, Freo won't have one because they're in the AFL. FIFA isn't an Aussie rules game.

Yeah, I think KSI is right on the verge of being an un-sub now.

I didn't mind his vox pop work, but what relevance does it have to his channel? And so far his FUT RTD1 and his regular RTD1 haven't really been all that flash (with FARRRR too much whining and bitching on his part for shit play).

Not only that, but now he's selling out his channel to advertisers. His Top 5 is sponsored by some Elgato shit that ruins the intro and that Heskey vid was sponsored by KickTV for...what reason I don't know.

I get that this is (likely?) his only source of income, but surely he was doing pretty well before doing all this new junk?

Won the community shield 1-0 and then my first game against Southampton 1-0. I find it much harder to score in 13 than the old versions I used to play. Much more realistic and I find that my best bet of scoring is usually getting a nice through ball for Tevez or Aguero to use their pace on and take on the keeper one on one. That said, in older versions I'd just skip around the keeper but a lot of the time I shoot wide on 13. Shooting is what I'm finding the hardest, the power meter seems super touchy and as a result I find myself either tapping a crappy soft shot or smashing one into row z.

I can shoot top corner from 25 yards away, the keeper will save the shot but it'll go directly to my other forward standing open 4 yards out from goal. Easy tap-in goaaa.. oh nah, the keeper just dived 10 meters from the opposite side of the goal to make a goal line save. Yeah, keepers are superheros in this game.

Except when it comes to my spud of a keeper, he'll let the ball roll past him at 3 km/h and do nothing about it.

I had a moment where the ball was about to go out for a goalkick and Julio Cesar rushed to the goalline to tap it back into the path of an oncoming striker. Keepers are utterly r******* in this game.

Meh.. Joe Hart is serving me well. Saving penalties like a champ.

Does anyone have any tips for me on shooting and my problem with the super touchy power meter?

Playing my Cardiff game yesterday, the opposition pumped a long ball to the edge of the box and my keeper charged towards it.... ended up completely missing the ball and luckily I managed to just save the ball off the goal line! It was pretty annoying but I guess that is something that can happen in real life.

Definitely easier to score, than 13, for me. 16 goals in 7 PL matches, and 6 goals in two Europa matches. Had my first 0-0 draw last night, against Reading who were last on the table!

Finding a lot of things a bit frustrating. Still winning most games with ease and dominate every game on professional but:
- Defending seems a bit over the top. I like the blocking of shots etc, but they seem to get their foot in out of nowhere at times. Just seems a bit too perfectly timed and I barely get fouled. I will say though - I do like it as it prevents silly scorelines and shows defenders are marking their men better, but it seems like they can't get to me and they suddenly do.
- Defenders of the other team running out of defence. Some do it, I agree but types of Ron Vlaar and some like less technical players are just doing magical dribbles out of defence and running half the pitch. Feels like I am versing someone online at times.
- Clearances. The way the AI clears the ball is really odd, sometimes they do hoof it out which is good, but most of the time its this hoof without looking and it magically lands perfectly to another team mate. I'm not just saying sometimes you hoof it forward and its lucky that someone gets it and you start the counter, I can understand if the guy is technically good, looks and knows where a team mate is - but its just a random defender not even looking and he will find someone 90% of the time.

Don't mean to whinge, but the AI just do things a bit perfect. Even on Legendary it shouldn't really happen, doesn't happen that often in real life. Anyway just my cons so far, got a lot more playing to happen, probably gotta step the difficulty up and it feels like I am just going through the motions on professional. I will say as well, the cons in 13 actually have something good about them whereas in past versions the cons were just bad. I still think I am a rookie at this game despite buying it every year.

Does anyone here play on legendary? I can't play on anything less. Professional is too easy and World Class is tough but not incredibly difficult. In saying that, it doesn't mean I'm that great a player.

i can play legendary depening on certain teams and game modes, i prefer world class though, i start to not enjoy it once it becomes too difficult and consistently frustrating

Aguero is an absolute beast.

I played a seasons match with City against a bloke who had Barca.

His first foray forward he scored on a cross. 1 shot 1 goal.

At half time I was up 2-1 (should have been about 5) with 11 shots and 10 on target to his 1 shot 1 on target (his only goal)

(Ended up winning 3-1 with a Mario shot from outside the box)

had an injury crisis with Cazorla, Wilshere injured and Vermalean, Mertesacker, Djourou and my young LB. Only had squillaci, Koscielny amd Miquel for Centre backs and Miquel is a gun. Beat City and Chelsea back to back with a young side.
