i'm stuck as melbourne victory manager forever, no matter how many titles i win i can never get another club to take me on unless they're worse or they're another a-league club
Are some those other clubs out of the A-League? Just go to them, even if they're shit. Just slowly upgrade.

0 - 13 in my online seasons career, just can't win :(. Some of the games are close, but for the most part i am a training dummy. Some people are nice and take the foot of the pedal after the first half, guessing they don't want me to rage quit out :D.

I had a match just 15 minutes ago, the score was 9 - 1. He had 27 shots at goal, i had 8.

Had to sell Benzema was trying to sell him for 40 mill but Barca/Zenit/Real were having none of it so in the end Barca bit at 30 mill so Wilshere and Benzema were both bought for a total of 55.5mill by Barca. Brought in Pato for 32 mill to replace Benzema and he plays one game goes off to play for Brazil and injures himself, not even a week at the club and his out injured.

Henry down 3 points in the first 5 weeks of the season.

It can take a while and you may have to go the long way round (going to clubs at the bottom of their league) but you can get out of the A-League. When looking for a new job I apply for one every day that is possible (as soon as I get a rejection letter, I apply for another one if available) and have had many rejections, but the jobs do come eventually.

For my career I started at Western Sydney

2012/13 Finished 3rd regular season, Won the finals
2013/14 Finished 1st, Won the finals
2014/15 Was 4th, got the job at UCD in Ireland

UCD AFC
2014/15 Finished 5th (started in last {11th})
2015/16 Was 11th, got the job at RAEC Mons in Belgium [couldn't wait to get away from the club]

RAEC Mons
2015/16 Finished 5th (Started second last {15th})
2016/17 Was 6th got the Job at Norwich City (English Championship), had been offered the job at Genk but were below Mons in the same league.

Norwich City (current club)
2016/17 Currently 6th {3 point behind 2nd, game in hand} (Started 4th)

Have also been the manager of Finland while at UCD (Quit after 3 poor games ) and am currently managing New Zealand (4-0-0 in world championship qualifying, with 0-1-2 in friendlies).

Bloody hell this loan-to-buy freeze is giving me the shits.

Just took Southampton to 7th, two young loanees have been brilliant for me and their value on the loan is way less than I'd have to pay normally. Now I can't accept them :( . How long till that patch is out, I'd be seriously considering waiting.

It also frustrates me as both times I've had international job offers, firstly from Greece and then Austria.

Not in a good mood.

So Muniain decided that the weather was unbearable and requested a transfer.
As soon as that happened, I had an email from the board saying that they accepted an offer already.
Turns out it was 39.5 Mil from Barca.
Doesn't matter as I have a kid in my team that I scouted with a potential of 86-94, 16 years old and already rated 73. Has 4* weak foot and 5* skills.

With the transfer money, I bought Iturbe for 9 mil and he gets a double on debut. Awesome.

Career Mode:

12/13 - Started with Victory and won the title. Didn't make many big player moves but was offered the job at Leicester City in the npower and the objective was finish mid table.
13/14 - Made some moves and set the club up with scouting networks (payed millions for that first over getting players in straight away) Set myself to aim for promotion the next year
14/15 - Free Agency is the best! Signed a heap of young guns under 20 who were all worth $5mil + (two ended up being superstar CB's who I go on to sell later) Got promoted but didn't have any superstar signing, worked on playing the younger future stars I had (used the scout a star thing)
15/16 - In the EPL ! Mainly looked for a striker (Which I got a 20 year old star in the making for a cool $15 mil) as my midfield and defenders were more than serviceable. The objective was to finish mid-table and I managed 6th only one point behind Arsenal in 5th.

Off-Season: Remeber those 2 CB's I had signed from a couple of years ago... Well I had to get rid of them because both wanted out even though they were my starting CB's, anyway one sold for $55 mil to Aston Villa.... Aston Villa you say?? Well halfway through the 14/15 season there was a note that popped up saying that AV had new billionaire owners. Barca then purchased my other CB for $51 mil. While Real Madrid purchased my 15mil Stricker for $40mil (WOW!, But he was only 21 and will probably be a star later I couldn't knock back that offer)

So I had money to burn. Joe Hart ($25mil) Neymar (31mil) Aguero (60mil) Kompany (32mil) which still leaves me with about $20mil (from initial budget etc.) So I'm sweet.

16/17 - Haven't started this season yet but I should be able to win it all.

Anyone just starting a career mode I suggest you check Free Agency every transfer period! There are some absolute gem's which can help your club. Even if you sign them and loan them for a year and then sell. You'll make money or find one you want to keep.

tl;dr Career mode is good fun kthxbi

I absolutely love reading people's career mode stories. They're superb, maybe it's just the way everyone tells them but it's great. Especially finding out about hidden gems as well, awesome.

This and the UT thread are my two favourite threads on BF right now.

I may have accidentally sold Bony from Sydney FC  He wasn't the greatest player but he was leading the league in goals so that was his biggest asset (alongside his strength). Sort of poor touch though. He got about four offers all from big clubs, Barca offered 10.5 mill and I countered 13.5 mill thinking they wouldn't pay it, but then they said they would. And I had no further say in the matter apparently.

So now he's gone I had to work around and find a class striker to replace him in the January window. I ended up getting a 77 overall, 22-yo ST from Ghana called Richmond Boakye. 94 sprint speed, 84 acceleration, 84 strength, 83 agility, 80 shot power, 78 ball control. So hopefully he'll be good for me, 10 mil transfer fee plus 45k wages. Also picked up a free agent Alolsio da Silva Elias, 21-yo 69 LW from Brazil with 85 pace and 4 star skills for just 4k wages. Also loaned a LB from Inter called Carlos Caceres, 70 ovr, needed to strengthen up my fullbacks as homesick Fabio wanted out. Seems like a nice little player, 81 pace, 4 star skills, 19-yo.

Did well in that market for having not much money at all to work with.
Thanks to progression, full strength squad now looks like this:

Federici (76)
Grant (64) - Ogbonna (83) - Dede (85) - Caceres (70)
Cortes (75) - Antonis (69)
Kakuta (79)
da Silva Elias (69) - Boakye (77) - A.R. Traore (75)

Gonna be honest, I don't see the point of playing A-League and then stacking your squad with star internationals.

Was never really my plan tbh. Aim was to hopefully have some success with the limited squad I had and then move on to a European team after a couple of years and try and build them up. But when you're gifted 54 million you're hardly going to sit on your hands, so I thought why not. If I leave at the end of the season I've set the club up well for the future :D

The board's not gonna be happy when they see what you've done to the salary cap ;)

Imagine if the was an online seasons mode where we could all pick one team, then play each other and try and do transfers just like normal seasons mode. Would be epic if everyone stayed commited.

Do people ever get job offers from big clubs while coaching in the A-League?

First season with Arsenal is done. I bought Falcao who got 56 goals in all competitions despite being injured for 5 weeks, and me continually rotating the team.
I also signed Leighton Baines who was solid without being spectacular. I ended up selling a heap of people including Squillaci, Chamakh, Rosicky, Andre Santos and Ramsey.
Kinda struggled early on with World Class, then changed to Professional which I found a bit easier. January comes around and I am still in the cups and first in the league. A 30mill pound bid for Podolski who was in great form, gets accepted and goes to City. I decide to replace him with Di Maria, in addition I buy Adryan, Willems, Sterling and Zouma. All 18 year olds with above 70 ratings with the exception being Sterling being 69 (stick to that Sterling and maybe you'll stop having kids).

Round of 16 I had Schalke who I dispatched with ease, then Barca I beat 3-0 at Camp Nou, then they beat me 3-1 at Emirates - got a goal in the 88th minute to go through. Got Milan in the semi's and beat them 6-1 then 3-0. Final I get Bayern Munich, but before I get into that I beat Chelsea easy in the League Cup and then in the FA Cup it went to penalties. Despite having 18 shots to 2, I simply could not score with Cech having a blinder. Won 4-2 on penalties, I guess those mini challenges with the penalties helped me quite a bit. CL Final comes around and I beat Bayern 2-1, they scored the first but Falcao the superstar got both goals for me, including a rocket from 30 yards.

My team for the season was pretty much (4-3-3)
GK Szszszszsz 83 (i swear I will learn to spell his name/look it up) Fabianski had his spot for a while, find he tends to spill it a lot. Average season. 6/10
RB Sagna 83: Average season, did his job. 6.5/10
CB Verm 85: Needs to score more goals from headers, did score a 30 yarder. Good season though 7.5/10
CB Kos 83: Solid season, scored some goals from headers. 7/10
LB Baines 82: Solid without being spectacular 6.5/10
CM Arteta 81: Fantastic start, slowly declined though 7/10
CM Wilshere 85: Poor start, picked up big time in the critical games 7.5/10
CAM Cazorla 86: Great start, dropped off a bit but still had a good season 8/10
RW Walcott 83: Infruriating player, great pace but poor finishing. Although I think he finished with most assists and about 5th in goalscoring charts. Was given heaps of chances though 7/10
LW Di Maria 87: Poor year, with his rating I expect a bit more. His shooting and finishing has got to be the worst I've dealt with for an elite player. 4/10
ST Falcao 90: Amazing year, saved my ass so much. Can't rely on him too much on World Class. 10000000/10

Notes on other players - Adryan started well, with the youngster scoring 5 in 3 games but he dropped off. Willems - will be a player, scored a brilliant goal. Sterling - hit and miss, bit weak at the moment - will probably end up being like Walcott. Ox - poor start but strong finish. I am also the manager of Belgium, only had 2 games so far though but I am top of the group.

Already started my next season and pretty much finished up my transfers (probably will look for youngsters, perhaps even a youth academy which I don't even have yet)
IN: Fabregas 28m, Neymar 25m, Hummels 19m
OUT: Walcott 38m (Barca), Mertesacker 5m (Dortmund) Koscielny 19m (Milan)

Bit worried about my CB depth, Zouma will have to step up if Hums or Verm goes down. Fabregas takes Arteta's spot, Hummels takes Koscielny's, Neymar takes Walcott's.
Gonna play on World Class and I think my team will help me adjust to it. Will give Di Maria more time but wouldn't be surprised if an offer comes in and I accept it. I want a big offer though, but his poor form won't help.

You sold Walcott for 38 mill? Shit I sold him for a lot less then what I could of then.

How the hell does Barca afford to pay 25-45mill for players that wouldn't even make their starting 11. They bought Benzema, Wilshere, Mertesacker and Arteta from me for a total of 70 mill and Benzema is the only one I've seen play a game for them.

That is a feature of NBA 2k series. Online Association. Great game mode!

Capital Cup game against Man City. Goes to extra time and they score some silly lucky goal. Think games over as they continue to press forward. Get one back with 5 mins to play, but they continue to go forward and look like scoring a goal. All of a sudden, counter attack is on and Mirallas just gets to the through ball and it trickles over the line for a goal in the 120th minute. Massive fistpumps. only Quarter Final though

Had the most epic online match just before, scores were 3 - 3. With minutes to go, i get the ball and am about to go on a run to an almost open goal..... and my player breaks down with a hamstring injury. I was shattered when it happened.

Had something similar ...

Was clean through just outside the box, opponent deliberately fouls me ... ball breaks to a teammate out wide ... ADVANTAGE ... keeper comes out ... cross the ball to an unmarked player ... nah, as the ball is in the air now it's not advantage, bring it back.

Glad I didn't take the Chile job as Argentina just offered me the job. Pato is amazing at the moment teamed with Muniain and Neymar on the wings I'm pretty much unstoppable on the counter attack, though Muniain is starting to get fed up with his limited playing time as I rotate the team quite alot (if they aren't 100% stamina I don't play them) and I'm also trying to get as much gametime into Sterling. Swansea got taken over so that should be interesting come transfer window, heard rumours of Southampton being taken over last season but seeing as they got relegated they must of backed out.

As good as Pato is he can't string two games together without getting injured, 2 twisted knees a bruised elbow and a sprained ankle in the first 2 months of the season.
