Thomas earned his first All-Australian berth after a strong 2011, but a two-game suspension for a bump on Fremantle's Garrick Ibbotson from Round 23 cost him a spot in the Magpies' first final, against West Coast.

That ban still sits uneasy with him, though he doesn't want to dwell on it.

"You never want to miss a final, especially for an incident like that," he said.

"My Nanna said to me a couple of days later that it wouldn't have even knocked her over, and she is getting on a bit now.

"It honestly frustrates me a fair bit, that you get suspended, and you get two weeks for it. But there is no use holding grudges. What is in the past is in the past, you just move on and use it as motivation to build on in the future."

When you run past the ball 20m and shirtfront someone after the ball has left the vicinity, expect a suspension dumb ass.

Lower returned the favour later in the game and copped the same suspension. I distinctly remember Thomas going down like a shot bird, pot, kettle, black.

Though quoting anoyone's Nanna is hilarious.

More evidence on why his nickname suits the sulking petulant crybaby...

Suck it up daisy...was a dog act and should have copped more than 2 weeks..

But, but, but Nanna said, Nanna said.....

Wow, off the ball, front on, feet off the ground and he is pretending it is a non-incident.

Noted there is nothing on the Collingwood board abut Daisy's comments so either they haven't seen it yet or recognise his comments as being ridiculous and don't see any point in posting about it. The only reason Daisy could have expected to escape a 2-week ban is because the MRP is notoriously inconcsistent.

I love how he says it wouldn't have knocked her over... Daisy ends up past where Ibbotson would have been standing.. and Ibbotson isn't some sort of Gavin Wanganeen rubberman, where he bends down then back up at the ankles.

Does his nanna do all his fighting for Daisy?
What kind of dumb prick still whinges months after the incident.... What else did he expect?
They only give the get out of jail free card to that eye gouging scum Judd when you smash a Freo player on field.

That's worth a $5,000.00 fine for suggesting the tribunal doesn't know what it's doing.

Totally unacceptable conduct. Demetriou should be outraged.

let alone I think he's exaggerating, His Nanna would have been sat flat on her arse with a bump like that; but that's not the point.

The inference is , had Daisy's Nanna been on the tribunal this year he would not have been found guilty. Now either she's wrong or the tribunal was wrong.

More of Daisy bitching soon after he was handed the suspension...

"I'm sure if you asked Garrick what he thought of the hit he'd say there was nothing in it". Hahaha, yep I'm sure he's totally cool with getting poleaxed off the ball.

And on Lower returning the favor "I was seeing stars, mate I thought I was in a bit of trouble. I had pins and needles..."

It reeks of being able to give it but not take it.

Loved Nick's old fashioned attitude of "you line my mate up, I'll do the same to you - no matter how many weeks out it costs me". I wish I could find youtube footage of that hit!

That's the important thing IMO. When you jump in the air, you go beyond wanting to impact the play and are more focused on impacting the head. Daisy may not have seriously hurt Lower, but it wasn't through a lack of trying.

I think it was Lower who hurt Daisy, but in his defense he was aiming lower

I think someone should call nana's bluff, next person to see her should give her a hip and shoulder in the face. If she is still standing then full credit to her if not then best run like hell.

Was just a good solid bump IMO. Play on.

But in this day and age, 'The Demetriou years', i guess a 1/2 week suspension was warranted.

But it is nice to see he isn't dwelling on it.... some 4 months later....

I remember these two incidents. The number of Pie fans that vehemently denied that Daisy hit Ibbo in the head was amazing. Thomas deserved time off. Full stop.

Lower's hit was worse. It was a hip or a*se cheek into the top of Thomas' head while Thomas was over the ball. It was clumsy and deserved a spell.

As it turned out, Daisy had a recent bad record and some residual points hanging over... Lower didn't have either and pled guilty early. End result, Daisy gets 2 weeks and Lower gets 3. Pies ferals go feral (calls of Lower should be out for 5-6 weeks, Daisy should get off scot-free).

They both deserved time for it. If you look at the details the penalties were reasonable. Lower's was uglier and more dangerous, but he didn't have all the carry-over cr@p that Daisy did.

Daisy is a whinger. As soon as he left the ground he no longer had any choice in what happened. Physics took care of the rest. He left the ground. His fault. Build a bridge and get over it Daisy.

I read that differently to you. It seems Thomas is too much of a dumbass to pick up on it, but I thought his nanna was clearly taking the piss out of him.

"Dale you are such a pussy that one of your shirt fronts wouldn't even knock me over. You're also a dumbass. Now shut-up, look pretty and leave the hard stuff to me and your mother."
