I think Luke Ball should be the finals sub. He doesn't look cooked when he comes on as the sub and can really make his presence felt in the last stages of a game. Some subs you don't want play in the midfield in a crucial stage of a game but Ball would be fine and give our team an extra midfield rotation.

I find it extraordinary that a poll is being run for who will be the sub in finals, especially considering we are what, 10 weeks out from finals?

We haven't even made finals yet.

Let's assume we are going to play finals, ok.

Now we've done that, I reckon it would be great to make the sub one of our young players, Kennedy, Broomhead, Freeman or Scharenberg. They are a huge part of the future of this club and the sooner they experience finals the better off we will be.

Disregard finals, thats not the issue here.

Historically, i think we've used the sub pretty poorly. I'm of the view Ball is 'past it' (lack of a better term) however he still has important attributes he can bring to the table.

I think Ball as a sub could be a huge x-factor for us. When he comes on fresh he looks like he's running on top of the ground, and late 3rd quarter/4th quarter when players are tiring, what a weapon he could be around the contest. No point putting a young player as sub who will struggle to really influence the contest, Ball as sub has the potential to change games.
