there is a bit of stuffing around with allocating tickets this year dont be surprised if its very hard to get one i.e the ballot i told you guys about before be the 7am monday would be the go i doubt ticketmaster evan open that early probaly 9 or so dunno?

GFC members should have no problems getting tickets to the first two weeks of finals. Back in 2005, I was undecided about going to the Melbourne final until about the Wednesday, but had no trouble getting a ticket in a fairly good spot.

As for a Grand Final ticket should we make it, unless you are a Social Club or September Member (which I am lucky enough to be), all I can say is good luck for the Monday morning queue because I know how difficult it is getting them. In 1994, we were second in line at Myer Geelong, but as we're at the counter deciding what we want, the woman behind was constantly saying "No, they're gone", "Nope, gone too". They were literally disappearing off the screen. We ended up just taking whatever out of fear of missing out. And this was 13 years ago! Things are even harder now I'm led to believe.

And to think, I got my 95 GF tickets at oh, around 12pm the day they went on sale.

It's called, "right place, right time".

I don't think I'd even try getting tickets now. Would either just try and win tickets through a competition (this does work.. my mum got her ticket to the 95 GF like that) or hopefully my mate with the AFL membership will come through for me!

Yes, it is a free-for-all, although I did not take part because I lacked the money for the tickets last year. A tone-dial phone with a redial button is essential.

The Web is also a viable option but I don't trust that option to be as robust from a concerted attack by 100,000 passionate fans as the phone system.

just a quick note for geelong supporters to consider when getting tickets for the FIRST week of the finals.

dont think that the final for sure will be at the MCG.

COLL v STK (MCG)
GEEL v PORT (TD)
thats right we might be at telstra dome so get in early if the that is the case. chances are you will still be OK for a decent seat however.

People people people. This phone and internet system is for the Grand Final only. It sells out each year so the powers that be have come to this arrangement. The article in the Geelong advertiser a few weeks back confirmed this. They made no mention about other finals. The first three weeks will be as normal. Stop scaremongering everyone. As I said before you'll even be able to rock up on the day of the game and get a ticket. Think about it. First week of the finals a Geelong/Collingwood game is the only one to worry about selling out. Geelong/Hawthorn might push 80,000. Geelong/West Coast. Maybe 55,000. Believe me. You'll get in.

Man I'm tempted to fly down and see the game at the 'G.
My wife would kill me, but I'd love to be there for a winning final.

As for the GF (if/when we make it), not only am I not a member and could not afford to buy off a scalper... I don't think my heart could handle watching it live at the 'G.
I'm going to be watching in my loungeroom, with 000 on speed dial just in case.

You will have more regretts if you don't try and make it down for that one day in September if your team is there!

The last 2 years on Grand Final day have been the greatest days of my life with 2005 being ahead of 2006!!!

I thought the only way there would be a finals game at the TD is if all four games on the one weekend were in Melbourne(??)

5. Hawthorn

8. Adelaide

North vs WC (TD)
Geel vs Syd (MCG)
Coll vs Port (MCG)
Haw vs Adel (MCG)

Although, there won't be four finals in Melbourne in the first week of the finals, probably only 2.

The online ballot is only for Melbourne Cricket Club members who want a reserved seat in the Members' Stand for the GF.

Actually hold the phones - Catfan79 that article got me thinking so I emailed a colleague at ticketmaster.

There will be a registration process before the prelim final. At this point you 'pay' for a GF ticket.
He was a little vague here but I think after the prelim final there will be a random draw for the tickets (Damn )

Obviously if we lose the prelim of if you don't get drawn from the ballot you get your money refunded.

In retrospect I now wish I had the option to queue! I'm not happy about a roll of the dice deciding if I get a ticket.

The club will be sending out a letter in a couple of weeks which will explain everthing.

Yeah I wish I had the option to queue as well, I don't have a credit card or anything, plus if I queued with my friends, we'd be able to at least sit together at the GF.
