Stuff over-reacting from one game, this rant is a long time coming and the mauling from the Roos today is the icing on the cake. We did not get thrashed once last year, but now we open the new season with a 'kick it to the wings' game-plan and get mauled in the opening game.

Ayres may be successful in hardening up a side in his first year or two, but as at Geelong, when the honeymoon is over he is a stubborn, boring hard-ass w@nker who can't take a trick on match day.

Perrie on Lynch. Sure try it, but change it after one goal. Perrie at full-forward with Carey at CHF? Sure, try it, but also notice Perrie playing much better when he is ahead of Carey or there is no Carey at all.

But no, Ayres notices none of this. He is ridicuously stubborn, has no new ideas, and has clearly worn his loyalty thin with the team.

Adelaide looked lacklustre and miserable. Ayres' misguided belief that Carey will manage at CHF is the complete opposite to what all of our eyes see - he should be at FF and Perrie should be at CHF. Perrie can straighten us up and really works hard there.

Please, give me Shaun Rehn any day over the pompous, stupid ass Gary Ayres.

SHAME OF SA!!!!!!!

This is ****ing disgraceful. A bunch of soft pussies who have no guts, no hunger, no balls and no ****ing game plan. This is the biggest disgrace. WTF is Hentschel doing up forward??????

This **** farting around all the bloody time. IT WILL NOT WORK AYRES YOU PIECE OF SCUM.

I am so livid. Ayres is a deadman walking. Our players need to really take good hard look at themeselves. Today I saw a bunch of pussies who didn't want the ball. Too slow, too stupid, too ****ing soft. How the **** are we going to win games with this sort of crap.

Rhett Biglands you are GONE son. 2-3 weeks for sure. Not a big loss considering how crap you were today. You never won a ruck contest, you are gone. Bring Hudson in because he will at least have bloody crack at it.

The whole ****en team has a heart of Ben Marsh. This is a ****en disgrace.

Guys I think I enjoyed eating my Maggi Noodles at half time more than watching that piece of sh**. :p

That was shocking. And I agree, fire Ayres. He takes too long to make changes, he persists with going 'wide' and he had Sarge in defence :( I don't think I've ever been more embarrased by watching the crows in my whole entire life :(

And i know he played really crap anyway, but howcome Reilly was on the bench for so goddam long in the first half? I thought he had the upper hand over Dogga going by pre- season form...obviously not *shakes head*

I think it is fair to say that Rhett is going to be taking a holiday & Huddo will get a chance sooner than he would probably have thought.

Funny you say that because as soon as Biggles hit the roos bloke I said to my mother 'step right in Hudson' :(

You could see that our guys were getting more and more frustrated as the game went on. Surprised there wasn't more reports.

In the preseason, several posters on this board noted how abysmal the gameplan was. "Too wide & indirect, no quick movement forward" was the consensus on this board.

Some posters thought we might have been seeing only the "plan B".

Guess what - I'm afraid to conclude that that horrible gameplan we saw frightening glimpses of in the preseason - that was plan A, and there is no plan B.

Ayres will not have his contract renewed.

Only 1 game so far, so bit early to write of Ayres & our season. No doubt very worrying signs, but plenty of time to rectify things.

Normally, I'd agree with "a bit early to write of Ayres & the season" - but we all saw this coming several weeks ago.

Blind Freddy could see how bad it was.

Not Ayres.

What does that say ?

If you saw it coming so clearly why have you been talking up our chances on the main board!

Let's not panic after 1 game as it achieves nothing.

I didn't see it coming until I saw the gameplan.

From that time on I've been talking down our chances.

I'm not panicing - I'm facing reality. I can't express how bad that was. Everyone on the team - heads down. You could see the frustration & the futility of effort in the palyers demeanour.

If we face reality - then something might be done about it.

If as I suspect will happen the Crows think - we can fix this - then they are sunk.

Keep the faith guys, in the first quarter and a half I think Adelaide showed good signs and had us on the back foot. I think the problem was the lack of rotation in the middle of the first quarter. All of our midfielders had rotated early in the first quarter and the Adelaide ones were still on the field for the bulk of the first quarter and a bit. They changed in the second quarter but I think they were on for far too long and they just look stuffed after that.

We really learnt alot last year when we went to Perth and playing in almost 40 degree heat. Our rotation was woeful in that game and we got flogged.

I like Ayres and think he is as good a coach as you are likely to get, I mean I would prefer a Matthews but guys like him do not grow on trees. You dump Ayres and who is going to come in? Someone who has never coached or has failed elsewhere? After having Pagan for many years I really think coaches are over-rated.

After the first quarter I was concerned we would have troubles kicking a winning score, we were a little lucky and your runners ran out of puff. I would not judge the team from this one game.

I think Adelaide is much better than what they showed, sometimes a loss like that wakes the team up. They need to look at what they are doing and what they need to do to continue to achieve a high standard. I still think they are top 8 material, even after this bad game.

Will be a hard game against Brisbane next week, but I would expect Adelaide to bounce back at home and put in a good effort against them.

Ayres = Out.

I was at the game today, and I wanted to be anywhere but for the last half of Q3 and all of Q4. That was f*cking woeful. Unaccountable, soft sh|te. The amount of uncontested posessions the roos got in the midfield as they effortlessly moved the ball from our 1/2 forward line to their FF line was criminal. Even little things, like shepherds, were sadly lacking from the crows. No support for teammates, no talking and directing, just standing around in space awaiting a turnover (which never came) so they could get an easy stat. No one wanted to do the hard yards. We were a rabble, and on this evidence, we are not even top 10 material; we are looking at a high 1st round draft pick.

Go now Gary, you have wasted enough of our time.

CHF would work if we had crumbers front and square. There were 3 and 4 Roos there?

Dont blame Ayres

Players attitude today was more of a problem than the game plan. How many could you say were giving 100%?!

i know its just the first game, and that doesn't make the whole season.. but with a complete tool like ayres around, there isn't much to look forward to :(

i just heard him on the news saying after an effort like that, the only 3 words he could think of, he was describing himself with them actually :p

Well he has been a forward for most of his life so far. I cant see why its such a bad move.

Apparnetly he was reported twice is this true? I saw the last quarter report and he didnt seem to connect with his fist and would most likely get off. What was his other report?

The thing with Hentschel at AFL level is that he can lack confidence. For the sake of his development we must play him as a defender this year so he can get some confidence and games under his belt. Once he is settled at AFL level then swing him forward. I have no doubt he will end up being a forward down the track but for the time being we must play him as a defender.

I have only seen the incident where he cleaned up Petrie. True he didn't connect with the fist but he got him with his forearm. I think he is gone for 2 weeks at least.

Ben Hudson come on down. If he doesn't get sustpended than he sure as hell deserves to be dropped on todays performance.

On paper it may have looked like some of the players weren't trying, but that really wouldn't be the case.

Did they play smart?? Of course they didn't!! They played the most stupid unaccountable game possible within a stupid gameplan and the results are well deserved.

I've been saying all pre-season that one of our major problems is a lack of structure, caused by playing Carey at CHF. We were gypped by Ayres and crew when we traded for him, because we were told that he would be the answer to our inability to take contested marks up forward. He can't even get his arms in the air for an overhead mark!!

Blighty always said that footy was a simple game - the old KISS principle. Kick it long and to advantage. His gameplan was always about structure - Robran as the post at CHF we had to aim at with the crumbers knowing that would be where the ball went to.

But under Ayres we play just the opposite. We have no structure!! We handball to flat-footed players when even in the clear, we go wide when we could go straight, and there is just no structure. No CHF, no FF.

The rest of the world other than Ayres can see that Carey can't play CHF any more. His value has to be in the pocket or at FF. Hentschel at FF won't work either - he was a non-event today. He was just finding a bit of confidence playing in the back-lines but that would have evaporated after today. Stupid coaching!!

Not much use talking about the rest of the game as there is nothing positive to talk about.

As for Ayres' future he took a big step towards chopping his own head off today. He said during the week that this squad is good enough to be in the top 4. I think just on plain ability that's correct. On today's showing they looked more like a bottom 4 team.

On today's display he's a dead man walking.

I've tried not to vent and spit, but my god it's bloody tempting to do so after that p*ss weak performance today!!!

I'll finish with a question. After seeing Daniel Wells today, who would you rather have - Wells for 10+ years or the 2 that we're gettting from Carey??

Or is there nothing to answer??
