First 4 games can really set our season up. I think its vital we get off to a great start!

We have :

North
Weagles
Tigers
Port at MCG
Bombers

I think if we can win 3 out of these 4 games, then we will be a good shape. With Bucks & Holland to return after that, we really could set up our season!!

What you think all winable games?
 
There is no reason whatsoever that we can't win 4 of the first 5 games.

However, if we don't have 3 wins on the board after Round 5, it will be a pretty poor start.

We are better than 4 of those teams, if we play to our "POTENTIAL" we will be 4 an 5. And yes i know we did beat West Coast last year but comeon, be realistic.

Talked to Josh at the Collingwood training session last year, asked him how the flight over to Subi was. He said it was bloody good to get off the plane. Then he tore up the opposition the next day.:thumbsu:

does anyone have some sort of a team lined up against north?
what would be the key match ups? if they only played 2 ruckman who would get the gig out of bryan and richards?
 
Kangaroos - L
I'm anticipating a good contest. To be honest, The Roos will catch us on the hop. We will start the season underdone without a few quality players.
West Coast - L
Unfortunately, West Coast will be too good at home.
Richmond - W
Our first win on the board. Alan Didak returns. Big win.
Port Adelaide - W
I believe we can beat Port Adelaide. Nathan Buckley returns. Rocca will turn it on.
Essendon - 50/50
You can never be sure - I'm certainly not confident. The conditions could play a factor in the result.

3-2 would be a solid start IMO, I will be happy with that. However, it could easily be 2-3 as well. I really want to beat Essendon, stick it up their noses, that would be sweet.
 
we should be 4-1 after round 5.. and that loss should be a less than 10 point defeat by west coast..

having said this i still think the richmond or essendon games loom as bigger worries that the eagles.. for some uknown reason... it didnt looked like we clicked against our traditional arch enemies last year? was a worrying sign...

maybe the boys didnt have the same frame of mind against the lesser teams as they did with the better teams- against whom we
generally seem to play our best footy.
 
Like every year round 1 to 4 is simply seeing what other teams have achieved over summer. Its almost imposible to say we should beat the roos or coast or tigers as no one knows how they will come out. Lets just hope we are at least 50 50 on the win loss ratio after round 6. No one every wishes bad luck on players with injurys but thank god we play the roos first up and they dont have there forward line in tact.

Even Sportsbet has got Collingwood $1.50 to $2.40 favourite. How could you pick the Kangaroos.
 
I can't see us having a good start to the season. With no Bucks, Didak, Holland etc

But you never know :)
not expecting us to win the eagles game though, almost impossible over there.

You must be an accountant, unless i'm mistaken you mentioned 5 games, not 4. But i'm no mathematician. Maybe that's where we go wrong. We only want to win 3 out of 4 of every 5 games. My head hurts. Still, should beat the roos round 1. I'm taking it one week at a time. :)
 
Good season or bad season, i won't mind either as long as everyone has a dip and the young guys come through either at Willi or in the 1's. We can potentially pinch a premiership this year all going well, but long term i want plenty. A new decade of Magpie dominance!!

Off the top of my head, I think we're a 50-50 shot against North, we'll lose to the Eagles, lose to Richmond, beat Port, lose to Essendon.

So I'm expecting 2-3 after 5 rounds.

Why not, they beat us most recently, and now they have Lloyd back while we have Tarrant gone and Buckley questionable?
