i'm feeling particularly pessimistic/realistic.

north is a 50/50 game, and i dont think we will beat the others.

Collingwood will win against the Kangas and Bombers, 50/50 for Tigers and Port, and will run WCE fairly well too.

Betting odds are not an indication on who they think will win, odds are based on how much money has been bet on each team to win. If I placed a million dollar bet on us to win then the odds would probably be adjusted significantly, it doesn't mean we would then be favourites to win just because I put a large wad of cash on the line.

Holland does give us hardness around the packs and is another under-rated player by many of the "academics" on here.

If we are 3-2 after 5 rounds I'll be very satisfied. North are a worse side than us but as hungry as anyone. West Coast are a lot better even with several key midfielders out. Richomond have a good recent record and match up well, even though they are worse. Port are definitely improving, and for Essendon see Richmond. I'd say the North and Port games are our best bets.

Our two best creators (Bucks and Dids) have injury interupted preseasons and can be expected to start slowly. Our forward line has been revamped too. I expect our defense to continue to be excellent and our midfield capable, but I don't think we'll surprise people early like we did last year.

It is quite possible we will be 1-4. 2-3 will be par.

Sorry if i have pissed people off by dragging up an old thread but it is interesting reading everyones opinioun at the begining of the season. I guess with the win against the bombers today we are looking ok. I cant tell you how amazed happy spun out about the 4new guys in the team they look like champions. Dick Cox Toovey Bryan.

Yes, you were right on that one. I had Richmond and Port around the wrong way, and like most people expected the Bombers to be better on ANZAC Day.

I think the Bombers were OK and I was also pleasantly suprised, remember the Bombers farce against Carlton a couple of weeks ago? The Bombers were heaps better than that, and the Pies only just got over the line, so this Adelaide game is the real deal as far as how good this young team is. Essendon was an indicator for me that the team is tough, I actually had the ANZAC game (and St Kilda) as key games somewhere on here in march, only because they have had the wood on CFC of late. But the Bombers contributed to their own downfall with the team selection too. If they can play together like the Eagles game and with Didak/Medhurst back, they should be able to really show if they are tough, good, or (hopefully) both.

A loss to the crows will be reasonably devastating owing to the fatc that they have almost as many injured as fit. Even over there we oughta give them a real shake this time.
