Opinion First Captain under Walsh?

I agree with a lot you have to say. However, I think Tex would mature as a Captain and give us a presence on and off the field which is what havent really had since Roo days.

Look at the presence that players like Pav have on the field and its not hard to see that Tex could have the same. Also from what I have seen so far, pressure does not get to him, some of his 2012 goals in the finals are the most highly pressured situation this Club has faced in years on the field and he converted. 3/4 time goal against the Dockers and HT goal against the Hawks speaks volumes as this after the siren jobs too.

Funny, when I got up this morning the first thing I did was turn on the computer and read the article confirming Tex. Whilst I have some concern about Tex's ability to control himself I found myself getting excited about the club. It was a feeling of a new era. A new attitude from the club. Previously I believe we would have made an appointment with a view to keeping a player like Dangerfield on side. Today I feel that has changed. If we lose Danger we will handle that when it comes. We will make decisions for the right reason rather than for appearance sake.

More than Happy to support Tex in his captaincy.

Excited about the appointments of Walsh and Tex

So we only offered him the captaincy to hold off Port's million dollar offer?

;)

Pretty happy with Tex, but even happier to have such a strong leadership group.

Let's hope they can put it all together on field too.

The strong rumour is that Justin Reid (tex manager at the time ) told numerous clubs (including port) that tex may be available as tex did not rate or like sando one bit ....new coach = new contract and tex now captain ...twists and turns

"The appointment of Walker as captain increases the chances of Patrick Dangerfield leaving the club as a free agent at the end of 2015."

The one that stands out for me was the one at Walsh's first presser as new coach.

He gets it. He knows how important this new era is for the club. Tricolour blood in those veins.

I just love this move. Love it!

Standard and predictable presser. Tex and Walsh make all the right noises. One thing Walsh said that I liked was that actions speak louder than words and that's what this footy club will be all about this year.
Hopefully Tex will improve over time as he becomes more comfortable in the media role.

From what I've heard a lot of the other players wanted VB to remain captain. I'm thinking that is what the strong opinions were at the "man talk". This could be interesting.

So far we've "heard" that Sloane was pissed, Danger was pissed, vB was pissed, players were pissed that vB was demoted, the players are stoked, and that vB didn't expect to remain and is fine.

How about - we don't know.

If they had signed up like tex has and put the team first so everybody could focus on 1 goal the premiership, then they wouldve been hard to overlook imo. I dont think walsh could give the captaincy to danger knowing he could walk at the seasons end. Once again great appointment. I cant imagine rory being angry lol. To be a fly on the wall...
