Surprised you guys told the AFL you wanted to play on Saturday.
Interesting preference. Would think Saturday night/Sunday would've been the case. Perhaps AFL presented us Friday night/ Saturday as the preferences. Obviously Friday night wouldn't be ideal on the players who didn't get rested yesterday. Other point also is Sydney's curfew on flying after a specific time. They might have to come here Wednesday/Thursday to avoid it all.

Yeah I read somewhere the AFL contacted your club and asked for what day they'd rather. I would have thought Friday would be optimal... you get Sydney on a 6 day break and most of your playmakers would have been well rested.

i don't really think the afl consult us, they just tell us. "hey do you like Geelong?" "fck no" "well tough sht you're playing there"

Even that, they would take into consideration Sydney's flying troubles anyway. It's still ideal, being at 1.20 WST so not that much of a difference. Only thing is the state of the ground will be in, if it rains during the weekend.

Signed into my ticketmaster account just now as i only have my phone to rely on to get tickets heres hopeing i can get through fine tomorrow morning on the internet off my phone

I'm concerned about the condition of the ground if it's going to be wet for the WCE game and then ours - not sure who that would advantage

According to the forecast Fri is fine but a front on Sat.
fumble, fumble, fumble, slip, slip, slip. yeah we're terrific in the wet. The fact that we have managed to scramble to unimpressive wins, doesn't mean we play well in the wet. Good wet weather teams (like we were last year) can keep their feet and one touch. Most of our players haven't done either this year.

The game in Adelaide was one of the games of the year. Dont spruke rubbish. For a team that doesn't play well in the wet we keep on winning those wet condition games.
We have more trouble with good kicking teams on a fast ,dry track.Thats were our losses have come from.Eagles,Richmond,Hawks all losses on good tracks.

I was thinking about the reason that Freo would have chosen the Saturday game and think it might have to do with the WAFL finals. WC will be limited in who they can select for Friday night's game because East Perth played on Sunday. Someone like Scott Selwood (who obviously is on the outer anyway) will either not be available or playing after a 5 day break. Similarly, this week with the WAFL on Sunday, it would restrict the options for the following week potentially.

I never thought of that but it's very plausible. If wc lose to the hawks they will have a tough two weeks prep to make it to our side if the draw.

It didn't really restrict our options because no one that's in any way in contention for a spot played in the WAFL this week
