I say no to Stuey Macgill....We may as well play young Leggie Cullen Bailey now for some of the more easyer wins at home & prepare him for the future. If we choose Stewy & he gets injured in a tough series like old guys do then we will have to bring in Bailey totally raw. That aint a good thing to do. Blood him now!!!

Tait is the future Lee is the past..Lee has a poor test ave at 32. Pretty poor. He is 30 now aswell. Time for Tait to replace him. & i bet Tait will be averaging better than 32 after a few games.

Hillfenhaus - Better than Asif

Johnson - Misses out. He is not as good as the others.

Luke Butterworth - looks like he will be a proper test class allrounder who is a genuine threat with the ball unlike Robot. He made his FC debut last season playing 5 games & averaged 34 with the bat with 1 century & took 23 wickets at the astonishing average of 19. So far he has shown that he is easily the most talented allrounder in Aus. Selecters should not feel obligated to give the allrounder spot to Robot. They should choose the best available (Butterworth).

Jaques > Rogers - Rogers is more solid yeah but Jaques is a brutal matchwinner who can get centurys in the 1st session of a test thus basically putting the opposition on the back foot for the rest of the test or series.

That doesn't affect his ability to swing and seam it. I am biased when it comes to Asif, but he's the best young bowler in the world.
Butterworth will get nowhere near the team I'm afraid. The selectors have their favourites. Lee and Watto are two of them.

i think symonds has done enough to get a run in the Test side and watson will be chosen whenever available after showing his all-round potential in patches in the ODI team

opening

watto opening in the Test team is a big call i know but his form in the short format was promising and may get a chance ahead of rogers and jaques because of the flexibility it would offer the side

spin:

hoggy might be blossoming late in his career - he is fit as a fiddle and deserves the chance to translate his one-day form into the longer game

i know that stuey macgill is a bit stiff but he's been in poor form and is not in nearly as good shape as hogg - if magilla gets a few bags in the domestic comp then he may get the nod

alternatively, macgill and hoggy might come in at the expense of tait on raging turners and we go with 3 quicks, 2 leggies + symonds' p/timers

Mitch Johnson isn't quite ready yet and, as highly as I rate him, the same probably goes for Hilfenhaus so Bracken gets another chance to show he can hack it with the red cherry. Rogers slips in ahead of Jaques on the back of his form last season and more measured approach.

Brad Hogg probably won't get selected but I've thrown him in there because he's bowling as well as ever and he'd certainly bring more energy and enthusiasm to the team than MacGill. I've hardly seen anything of Hogg bowling in 4/5 day games so prehaps he looks a lot worse with the red ball than I imagine but I really would like to see him get a go.
