Spider + Pick 24 traded to Sydney for picks 15 and 49

Pick 15 on-traded to Carlton for Thornton

Results:

Sydney gets Everitt, pick 24, loses picks 15 and 49
Hawks get Thornton and pick 49, lose Spider and pick 24
Carlton gets pick 15, loses Thornton

that is abosolutely brilliant, best trade scenario i have seen mentioned on this site all year.

I doubt there will be a trade until at least Wednesday. My money is McDougall trade to Doggies.

Yes he has stated he wants to end up with us..I'm not too keen

Tuesday
P. Everitt (Hawthorn) to Sydney for pick #33 + J. Moore
B. Thornton (Carlton) to Hawthorn for pick #24

Hawthorn: lose Spider and pick #24, gain pick #33 and Jarred Moore (midfielder, Victorian, pick #31 2004)
Carlton: lose Brett Thornton, gain pick #24
Sydney: lose Jarred Moore, pick #33, gain Peter Everitt

I have a feeling that the Everitt to Sydney trade will be done tomorrow. This will give Carlton and the Hawks a very long time to discuss Thornton. The Thornton trade will be done on Thursday IMO, possibly even Friday.

There will definitely be trades done by 2:00 Tuesday, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if there is at least one done tomorrow.

I doubt the dogs would be too keen to do any deals before they secure Akermanis because anything they give up for McDougall could be used in the Akermanis trade.

Of course you would, Sydney get shafted. It will not happen though.

Yeah except Carlton will not trade Thornton for pick 24

Carlton wont take pick 24 for thornton.:thumbsd:

Thornton wants to go to the Hawks ... they will offer pick #24 and probably one of their small mids (Brennan, Young et. al.)

NO, pick 24 and some dud midfielder, wont happen, would be like offering pick 17 for Reiwoldt would you take that?

Perry to the tigers and kanga's 4th round pick for krakouer and our 4th round pick by midday on the Wednesday

Thornton can want all he wants... He may want to go somewhere but if the club is not compensated then he will not be going anywhere. Any of Hawthorn's fringe players can pretty well **** off. We will not be trading for garbage. You forget the sustainability of the Carlton board relies on this trade. If they **** this up, that will be their last mistake.

You left something out. How much of Krakeours pay packet is Richmond going to pick up? also, you better adjust for your 3rd round pick for our 4th round pick.

If they don't pick up two thirds of his salary then you can scrap that deal.

Riewoldt >>>>>>>>> Thornton.

No, it's like someone offering pick #1 for Riewoldt. Won't happen.

Thornton wants to leave and will just walk out on the club, leaving the Blues with nothing. The Blues will take #24 + a player.

Clinton young isn't garbage IMO, good young wingman/HBF with 2 years development in him, i would expect him to line up for us in round#1. I would take a long hard look at #24 and Young. #15 and Young might get the deal done.

Young has just been re-signed for 2 years, so won't be traded.
Hawks don't need Jarred Moore - already have plenty of that type of midfielder.
Can't see Carlton letting Thornton go for pick 24 alone.

I think Sydney will part with pick 15 for Everitt provided they get pick 24 as part of the deal.

WRONG, we have first pick in the PSD, the money offered is the same by both clubs, so we will take him in the PSD and stuff the Hawks all together, so Carlton hold the upper hand.

Competitively, that's still a good result for the 15 other clubs:
* Carlton keep a guy who doesn't want to be there
* Carlton loses their first pick in the PSD

Ensures that you will remain a mediocre team for several more years at least.

i herd that Iacobucci is being used in a deal with the Doggies involving Sam Power...could be bs tho but just adding to discussion

what's the point of cutting your nose in spite of your face over Thornton?

explain the hypocracy in saying on one hand he's not worth $300K p.a but you want a first round pick for him?

if the club really rated him he'd be signed, sealed and delivered.

Should an early to mid 2nd round be available take it and run.

Sydney will do the Everitt trade early. Similar to Richards last year, they don't usually stuff around.
