Fixture 2003

I actually preferred the old system with Channel 7 where some weeks there would be 4 sunday games, others there would be two. For some reason I prefer that...adds a bit of variety to the weekends.

As a Melbourne supporter, the 2003 fixture is better than what we've had for a while. 13 MCG games, no home games at Optus, with one home game at Colonial though (against the Bulldogs - work that out??)

We get a nice tough gauntlet at the end to run through, can't wait for that. The rest is fine too.

See I just want to get on with it.

Man UTD in soccer are the Essendon of football.

As long as my Dons end 2003 still looking & operating nothing like Man U, I can sleep a happy man.

Personally it should be good to go to a Saturday afternoon game for a change rather than only having one Saturday afternoon game last season which was at Subiaco and also the less night games.

Theres 22 rounds with 8 games each round, plus finals.

"uh oh,here we go again" :p

Geelong have 22 very winnable games next year, some more so then others!! :D:D

I'm farken ****ed, we only get to play Port once. Typical AFL, first they take Friday night football from us and give it to the likes of Essendon and Collingwood.

Whenever we get onto a good thing the money men take it from us.

Who first defeated Port in a final. Yes thats right North in 99. And then who hops on the bandwagon and gets a final against Port last year, yes thats right Essendon and Collingwood.

You wait and see, next year we won't get to play Port at all.

I never thought of it that way ?

All this time I thought we f'n shot ourselves in the foot by losing to West Coast at Manuka when all along it was the AFL wanting to give finals matches against Port to Essendon and Collingwood.

well bugger me with a tent pole

;)

I'm pretty happy with it. Couldn't get worse than the 2001 fixture or the 2002 one for that matter.

AFL is all about Saturday afternoon football (in Victoria) and the sooner the AFL realize that the better... The last few years they have taken too many games away from the Saturday afternoon timeslot.

Haaa, very good, will be interesting to see the fellas reaction when Port do beat The Roos, must happen sooner rather than later.

Port Adelaide had the chance to beat North Melbourne twice in 2002 and should have won both times. Round 1 after all the ****e that took place in the pre seaon at Arden st North goes to Adelaide and beat Port in a game no one would have picked us. Later in the Year in Round 16 we play Port at ****ty Optus Oval as our home game, where it was windy and rainy and Carlton on the same round of Football are playing under the rood at Colonial. Back to the game, Port are on Top of the Ladder, North Still there about to maje the 8 and North win easily against Port by 5 goals with not scoring in the last 20 minutes of the game by North has Port had alrady given up and Matthew Primus all did all day was complain and had a sook to the umpire has Spider Burton killed him in the ruck

No worse way to start than Briz first up, would be happy just to keep the margin down.
At least it gets it over and done with.

It's not too bad. As long as Essendon get a game in Sydney that's a good thing - and the Queens Birthday long weekend at Stade de Oz is definately a game to look forward to. There'll be a huge crowd in that night.
The mid-season break is a bit of a concern. Having a split round to give players a week off isn't too bad a thing, but no football at all for the whole weekend is a huge free kick to the NRL and rugby union. I'd have preferred to have a split round - but to have games televised on FTA on both weekends rather than just the one like happened in 2002.
Also I'm not happy about Essendon having so many Friday night games - including 4 in a row around June/July. That's a kick in the teeth for interstate fans - and something that our blood will continue to boil over unless Ch 9 back down from their unethical dog-in-the-manger antics towards Fox Footy showing Friday night games live.

I think all the games in those months that we play at home are all at Colonial as well. So we dont see daylight for 2 months.

Its probably our equal best draw, alongside 1997.

They've been giving Saturday afternoon games to the SA teams that neither team wants - take ours!
